When a Gunney speaks.....

This hero says it all.
One team, One fight. Navy-Marine Corps! Now if Congress would just figure it out.

A word from [Gunnery]Sergeant Krueger, USMC, to Speaker Pelosi:

How can you even think of pushing forward legislation to set a withdrawal date for US forces from Iraq? Do you know how much you embolden the insurgency here in Iraq? YOU ARE JEOPARDIZING THE LIVES OF US SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN WITH YOUR ACTIONS. You and your fellow Democrats are causing the Al Qaeda supported insurgency to use more catastrophic attacks against us and Iraqi forces. You will see more SVBIED’s with chlorine gas, more VBIED’s against civilians and security forces every time you and other Democrats open your mouths. You will have to live with yourself and try to sleep at night knowing all the defeatist propaganda you have spewed forth is nothing more than ammunition for Islamic extremist groups around the world and more US deaths. The ! unsuspecting people who support you know nothing of what goes on over here; you fill their heads with nonsense and talk of pullout to appease them. The only thing that will happen is the establishment of an extremist Islamic state where sharia law is the law of the land and no one is safe.
Sunni Moslems here are coming to our side and joining forces with the government to defeat Al Qaeda(AQI) here in Iraq, but they need our help and they need us to stay. I have spent the last 7 months(3rd tour) in Iraq. I have watched Iraqi citizens pick up weapons and form militias in areas to join forces with Iraqi police/Army. Common citizens who fight and die because we are standing next to them. Not cutting and running or talking of withdrawal. This started after the surge forces the President sent here arrived. We have lost Marines also and it hurts more than you will ever know but we have made a commitment to these people. And I for one will not abandon them and I have of a platoon of Marines who feel the same. I have no control over what happened in 2003 and why we invaded Iraq. That is another discussion, but we are here and they need our help to rid their country of these terrorists. Yes eventually we will leave but we need to do a phased withdrawal without a timeline. At least without a timeline that is published for the world to know. The citizens of Iraq need to see some solidarity in our government, Democrats and Republicans coming together and supporting our President in this war. There is a middle ground here for both parties, you all need to come together and work towards a solution. What we don’t need is more theatrics and clashes between the parties. AQI loves to see that it causes them to do more attacks and continue with the murder and intimidation campaign against Iraqi citizens.
Someone needs to step forward and bring the two parties together. Meet and talk about what you all can do and come to an agreement on the war. Like I said before we need a unified front to present to the world on the Iraq war. The Iraqi people need a morale boost, they need to see we are behind them and we will support them and not cut and run. The insurgency needs to see our resolve is strong and we will endure and defeat them. Extremist Islamist terror groups use our perceived weakness against us. They misunderstand our kindness for weakness. Weakness shown to the world brings more recruits to their cause; it causes more civilian deaths and violence.
Please I implore you to not push this agenda. I have watched you on television and you seem to be using this as a steppingstone to further your political career. STOP!!! More is at stake here. Our countries word is on the line, my word to many Iraqi citizens is on the line. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines lives are at stake. We know the risks and we face them daily. Don’t make our mission more difficult.

Leslie Carbone: Leaving a Marine Behind

Leslie Carbone: Leaving a Marine Behind

Leslie Carbone has some great compliments for our young Marines who serve this country, observing them in "the crucible" as they take what soldier skills they have learned and put them to the test at the end of Basic Training. She also has a great synopsis of the problem with Jim Webb (aka: Lt. Dan.) Says Leslie:

" My visit to Parris Island last month strenghthened my regard for the U.S. Marine Corps.It remains strong--despite the efforts of my junior Senator.Jim Webb was a Marine. So was his aide, Phillip Thompson, who tried to bring a gun into the Russell Senate Building on Monday. Sen. Webb has responded to the incident with evasive statements that leave more questions than answers, even refusing to confirm or deny Mr. Thompson's claim that the gun belongs to the Senator, who asked the aide to carry it, and let his fellow Marine spend his 45th birthday in D.C. jail. What is he hiding? Why is he hanging his aide, a fellow Marine, out to dry?"

She makes a great point, and one I am sure the "Senator" doesn't want to answer. Stop by her site over coffee.

This is what the troops feel about recent vote in Congress

The excellent milblog at http://www.blackfive.net/main/2007/03/otroop_reaction.html requested that military members send in their responses to the recent surrender vote by Congress. I did, and he used it on the blog. I just wanted you to see what we really think, as opposed to what is seen in the media. Of course I know that all of our readers know better than to believe the MSM. You will probably figure out which email was mine. You will have to scroll down to find the article. Hope to see all of you in DC on the 26th.

Says UN: Circumcision Fights AIDS

Here’s an item that can be filed under “What’s the world coming to?” The first is out of Montreux, Switzerland:

U.N. health agencies recommended Wednesday that heterosexual men undergo circumcision because of "compelling" evidence that it can reduce their chances of contracting HIV by up to 60 percent. But World Health Organization and UNAIDS experts said men need to be aware that circumcision is only partial protection against the virus and must be used with other measures. "We must be clear," said Catherine Hankins of UNAIDS. "Male circumcision does not provide complete protection against HIV." Studies suggest 5.7 million new cases of HIV infection and 3 million deaths over 20 years could be prevented by male circumcision in sub-Saharan Africa, the agencies said.

I don’t know who did the “studies” they are quoting from, but my “bulls**t detector” is going off. The thought that making softer inner areas of the skin overtop the stronger outer dermal area of the skin as a way to reduce the likelihood of HIV infection is lunacy. If anything is serves to make more areas where skin abrasions can occur, thus providing more entry points for the virus into the body.

What’s more disturbing is that this notion is being proposed in “sub-Saharan Africa” a place that due to poor available healthcare and high HIV infected citizens, can really not afford to have “sexual experiments” and liberal sexual reasoning inflicted on it. Time lost to bad ideas costs lives. The “strong evidence” for circumcision was based on “three trials — in Kenya, Uganda and South Africa.” Well, for Uganda’s part, AIDS cases were already on a downward spiral in Uganda due to strong social reforms in that country that stress abstinence and monogamy – two words often scoffed at in liberal “real world” strategies:

Uganda is one of the "success stories" in the fight against AIDS in Africa. Through use of a strategy called ABC (Abstinence, Being Faithful, and Condoms), the country has managed to dramatically reduce the incidence of HIV.

However in recent years, and largely because of the influence of Bush and the money he's donated, that strategy has shifted to focus on the "A" and "B" components, leaving out the "C" (condoms). Public health experts fear that this shift (due largely to political reasons) could once again lead to increasing rates of HIV.

For example, Bush is increasingly only giving money to HIV/AIDS programs that do not promote condom use as a means of HIV protection, but that emphasize being faithful and abstinence instead. There have been a lot of "virginity pledges" lately by young people, but the truth is that many of these young hopeful virgins are unable to keep their pledge (due to a variety of reasons including poverty and disempowerment of women) and then do not know about condom use.”

(As an aside, need I even point out the intelligence in using money donated to stop the spread of a disease in order to back a strategy that has a much better success rate than condoms: “That stupid Bush put more program money into the part of the program that works every time, than into the portion that only works 50-70% of the time – what an idiot!”)

Liberals (especially European ones) loath to give abstinence any credit for working even though its success rate is 100%. It requires a change in lifestyle that seems to put an intolerable damper on their lives – even if it’s saving that same life. This latest U.N. “recommendation”need not be done, especially when the lives lost will be some of the economically poorest people on the planet (according to liberals), and ones of a race – the black race – that liberals say they care so much about.

Last time I checked, circumcision was a pretty conservative thing to do, following family tradition and being good ole' american.

Only Jews and Muslims are circumcised in Europe. In USA New England and California have circumcision rates down in the 30% range, but in the midwest, it's still over 70%.

I'm not sure how "conservative" circumcision is from a political perspective. I do know that it doesn't seem to be a good technique to use to fight the spread of aids. Monogamy and abstinance seem to be much better weapons in the fight.

Troop Rally 26 May 2007

Support our Troops Rally in DC May 26, 2007
Mark your calendars, make your reservations, and contact friends.
The announcement has come from U.S. Veterans Dispatch, Mar 28, 2007.

Support our Troops Demonstration planned for May 26 in Washington

The National Park Service has granted a permit to Rolling Thunder to sponsor a "Support our Troops" demonstration on the Henry Bacon Drive field adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday May 26, 2007. This is the same location which was occupied by the anti-Americans on March 17.

GOE and all will be invited to participate..

Let's put on a show of support for our troops.

May 26th gives us an opportunity to send a message to the world that the American people clearly support our troops and the war against Islamic terrorism.

We must band together to make the demonstration a success. Larry Bailey, representing GOE has been invited to join in on the organization and planning. Getting the word out and people to the demonstration is critical. Rolling Thunder could have as many as 500,000 supporters in Washington on the Memorial Day weekend (May 27). The numbers will already be in Washington for the Roll, we have got to get them to Henry Bacon Drive for the demonstration to SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.

The colors are red, white and blue.

I AM JOHN DOE

In a nutshell, the six imams were removed from a US Airways flight for suspicious behaviour a few months back. CAIR is supporting them in a lawsuit against said airline. And against ANY passenger that reported them or was even a witness. CAIR wants the imams to sue any "John Does" that were suspicious of them

From Michelle Malkin, I found this new movement that I thought our readers would like.

Dear Muslim Terrorist Plotter/Planner/Funder/Enabler/Apologist,
You do not know me. But I am on the lookout for you. You are my enemy. And I am yours.
I am John Doe.
I am traveling on your plane. I am riding on your train. I am at your bus stop. I am on your street. I am in your subway car. I am on your lift.
I am your neighbor. I am your customer. I am your classmate. I am your boss.
I am John Doe.
I will never forget the example of the passengers of American Airlines Flight 93 who refused to sit back on 9/11 and let themselves be murdered in the name of Islam without a fight.
I will never forget the passengers and crew members who tackled al Qaeda shoe-bomber Richard Reid on American Airlines Flight 63 before he had a chance to blow up the plane over the Atlantic Ocean.
I will never forget the alertness of actor James Woods, who notified a stewardess that several Arab men sitting in his first-class cabin on an August 2001 flight were behaving strangely. The men turned out to be 9/11 hijackers on a test run.
I will act when homeland security officials ask me to “report suspicious activity.”
I will embrace my local police department’s admonition: “If you see something, say something.”
I am John Doe.
I will protest your Jew-hating, America-bashing “scholars.”
I will petition against your hate-mongering mosque leaders.
I will raise my voice against your subjugation of women and religious minorities.
I will challenge your attempts to indoctrinate my children in our schools.
I will combat your violent propaganda on the Internet.
I am John Doe.
I will support law enforcement initiatives to spy on your operatives, cut off your funding, and disrupt your murderous conspiracies.
I will oppose all attempts to undermine our borders and immigration laws.
I will resist the imposition of sharia principles and sharia law in my taxi cab, my restaurant, my community pool, the halls of Congress, our national monuments, the radio and television airwaves, and all public spaces.
I will not be censored in the name of tolerance.
I will not be cowed by your Beltway lobbying groups in moderate clothing. I will not cringe when you shriek about “profiling” or “Islamophobia.”
I will put my family’s safety above sensitivity. I will put my country above multiculturalism.
I will not submit to your will. I will not be intimidated.
I am John Doe.

Glaring Inconsistency from Lt Dan

There is a problem with the Lt. Dan/Phillip Thompson situation. Any Marine worth his training can see it. Any soldier worth his training can see it.
Care to guess what it is?

Lt Dan didn't know where his weapon was. He failed to keep track of it.

HE LOST IT!!!

This is absolutely unacceptable. As the license holder, he is responsible for knowing the location of that weapon at all times.

Then he goes on TV and whines about the lack of security for the legislative branch?

What an arrogant SOB.

More Accusations of Scandal Are Thrown at Gonzales

Looks like a new front will be opening up on the WOG (war on Gonzales.)

“Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, both already under siege for other matters, are now being accused of failing to prosecute officers of the Texas Youth Commission after a Texas Ranger investigation documented that guards and administrators were sexually abusing the institution's teenage boy inmates. The allegation around Gonzales centers on whether he turned a “blind-eye” to sexual abuse of the teenage boys in the custody of officers of the Texas Youth Commission:.” “The Texas Youth Comission [sic] controversy traces back to a criminal investigation conducted in 2005 by Texas Ranger Brian Burzynski. The investigation revealed key employees at the West Texas State School in Pyote, Texas, were systematically abusing youth inmates in their custody. Burzynski presented his findings to the attorney general in Texas, to the U.S. Attorney Sutton, and to the Department of Justice civil rights division. From all three, Burzynski received no interest in prosecuting the alleged sexual offenses.” Says the report “Among the charges in the Texas Ranger report were that administrators would rouse boys from their sleep for the purpose of conducting all-night sex parties.”

Now, if you think this won’t be used as a political ejection button by Bush Administration enemies listen to this comment by Matt Angle, director of the Lone Star Project: “This case demonstrates that a partisan political agenda, with Karl Rove in an orchestrating role, has penetrated the Justice Department and subverted fair-minded administration of the law.” Needless to say that nowhere else in the whole sordid story is Karl Rove’s name even mentioned. But that won’t matter to administration critics who see yet another missile to be hurled at the Republican administration via Gonzales. The mentality seems to be that if they hurl enough mud, something’s got to stick. The Lone Star Project is billed by WND writer Jerome Corsi as “a political research and policy analysis project of the Lone Star Fund, a federal political action committee organized in Texas. The Lone Star Project has aggressively investigated alleged political abuses within the Texas Republican Party, including playing a leading role in investigating the activities of former Rep. Tom DeLay in the redistricting controversy in Texas.”

Where Eagles dare, pacifists doctor and dupe

The Eagles are famous in Canada. Here is a writer that gets it.
I wanted to print the whole thing.

by Judi Mcleod
Some excerpts:

As we all know by now, the ragtag, loose knit and lovable vets called The Gathering of Eagles changed history in Washington D.C. on March 17. Traveling in great numbers from far distances, they outnumbered ANSWER three to one--but a fawning mainstream media failed to report the facts, as usual taking the side of ANSWER.

The activists screaming chants in communist-paid anti-war protests are, in effect trying to leave the impression that America by nature is an insipid pacifist nation.
That just won't wash.
Americans literally became Americans by fighting for their freedom. They never waited for England to grant them their self-determination. They got out and fought to be what they wanted.
Aside from their Communist and labor union organizers, the anti-war movement is made up of young men who don't want to go to war to defend their country. The Jane Fondas, Alec Baldwins and Sean Penns are only the protest props.

Vets from all of the wars America ever fought, including the cruel Vietnam one, would be there to do the same thing to the enemy as they did to the enemy's running dogs on March 17, 2007. The vets, some still bearing painful wounds, would stare them down with a determined, unwavering, steely-eyed stare.
They are Americans. They back down from no one.

"Sgt. 1st Class Herbert Mowery and 1st Lt. Gabrielle Caldara,2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, examine the US Army's new weapon: CHase-Extricate-Eat Terrorist/Attack, High Speed"

Well, not really, but, I thought it was time for the lighter side to show up. Won't find this in the MSM.
It's nice to see that the real world in Iraq is still there.

Thompson is the one.

Former Senator Fred Thompson is pulling ahead in a race in which he has not yet entered.

With a New York Liberal that supports gay rights, gun control, and, shall we say, has "personal issues"; and an Arizona Senator that has never connected with the GOP base and says such things as "I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected"; and another Governor of a liberal Northeast state that usually is shown as example in the South of all things wrong, I think a Thompson candidacy may be the one we want to get behind, IF he runs. Now, we need to convince him. By the way, its being reported that his wife is urging him to run, and as a married man, I know.....the wife is always right.

What was that about "Homeland Defense"?

"Illegal immigrants allowed at least five strikes"
"Border-crossings guidelines revealed amid probe into U.S. attorney firings"
per the Houston Chronicle

"Documents released in the controversy about eight fired U.S. attorneys show that federal prosecutors in Texas generally have declined to bring criminal charges against illegal immigrants caught crossing the border — until at least their sixth arrest.
A heavily redacted Department of Justice memo from late 2005 disclosed the prosecution guidelines for immigration offenses, numbers the federal government tries to keep classified. DOJ officials would not say Thursday whether it has adjusted the number since the memo was written, citing "law enforcement reasons."

I don't know what to say. I'm speechless.......

Another reason to like the Australians

Please let me introduce to you a columnist that I think you will really like, Janet Albrechtsen, of The Australian. Go and read the whole thing. Her other writings are equally good.

The url is the website for this article: "Protector of the Free World deserves better."

Some excerpts:

"Anti-Americanism cannot be explained simply by US policy stances or as anti-imperialism either. The US was hated during its isolationist periods and under its pacifist presidents. "

"And, of course, US policy is not always right. Indeed, big countries make big mistakes. Pick a decade and you'll find a major stuff-up by American political leaders, from the passing of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act by US Congress in 1930 that led to worldwide protectionism, to the CIA overthrowing the government of Iran in 1953 which unleashed anti-American sentiment across the Middle East.
But the distinguishing features of anti-Americanism are its intellectual dishonesty and irrationality. US malevolence is assumed, not proven."

Code Pink Moonbats Angry With Pelosi; She Has Them Arrested

Looks like a catfight may be brewing between Pelosi and Code Pink:

Four members of the anti-war group Code Pink were arrested outside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Thursday afternoon, following an announcement that they would seek to take over the office.
The group’s members had planned to hold a symbolic “Pin the war on the Donkey” demonstration at Pelosi’s office to show their frustration with the Democratic leadership’s inaction on ending the war in Iraq.
However, Capitol Police prevented the taping of a drawn donkey to the wall.
Code Pink members were crying outside Pelosi’s office. When asked why, Rae Abileah, 24, said she was crying out of “outrage that this is all we can get from the Democrats,” referring to the Iraq supplemental funding bill, scheduled for a vote Friday.
“We’re just heartbroken that Nancy Pelosi has decided to keep funding George Bush’s war, and now the war belongs to the Democrats as well as the Republicans,” said Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin. “We thought we were going to get a change when they came into power.”

I thought the Democrats had this "mandate by the people" to stop the "illegitimate" war? They control the congress. Why can't they get this done? Answer: because this is NOT want the American people really want. The American people are NOT calling for a cut-and-run strategy from congress. The Democrats are politicians and want to get re-elected. They know that cut-and-run would be a disaster -- one that could be easily laid back at their feet politically, and they don't want this. Only their ultra left-wing like Code Pink want this strategy, and their aren't enough of them to keep the Dems in power in a general election (congressional or presidential.) So Pelosi and her followers are trying to "ride the fence" on this issue; trying to call cut-and-run by any name possible to get it past the American people, but the people aren't buying it. So they don't try cut-and-run and thier base comes after them. I love it! This is what happens when you base your parties support on a small band of people who are on the opposite side of America's success and safety. I just love it!

The video is large and may take some time to buffer, but it's worth it.

Big Brother Hillary Orwell, 1984Ad (Thanks Obama Campaign)

For those who missed the discussion, someone took an old ad from the ‘80s and parodied it as an anti-Hillary ad. The identity of the ad-maker seemed to by a mystery – until now, maybe.

The blog Jammiewearingfool reports that Fox news’ Carl Cameron has identified the makers of the ad as “Blue State Digital,” “founded in early 2004 by four members of the Howard Dean Presidential campaign” who “are involved in providing custom Internet applications and communications strategies to primarily Democratic organizations, political candidates and non-profit organizations.” The real kicker is this: some of the makers of this video that was widely cited as an attack ad by the “vast right-wing conspiracy” have been traced back to the Obama campaign! You can read more on this story here.

I looked at the add, and I don’t see what the fuss was all about. I mean, if you look at it, the ad is actually funny and you know what they say; humor is funny because it contains a touch of truth.

Despicable Beyond Words or Reason:

This just in from Drudge. You can read it yourself. I can’t talk about this just yet. My heart is too heavy and my soul is too angry.

Insurgents in Iraq detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle with two children in the back seat after US soldiers let it through a Baghdad checkpoint over the weekend, a senior US military official said Tuesday.
The vehicle was stopped at the checkpoint but was allowed through when soldiers saw the children in the back, said Major General Michael Barbero of the Pentagon's Joint Staff.
"Children in the back seat lowered suspicion. We let it move through. They parked the vehicle, and the adults ran out and detonated it with the children in the back," Barbero said.
The general said it was the first time he had seen a report of insurgents using children in suicide bombings. But he said Al-Qaeda in Iraq is changing tactics in response to the tighter controls around the city.

Sick. Just sick.

A response to Mr. Garnett. Welcome to the blog.

Dear Mr. Garnett,
What anger and vitriol are you talking about? Especially here. I see joy at the turnout of patriotism on March 17th. If you mean the anger of patriots against persons that appear to support the enemy that have killed my fellow Americans, then why are you suprised? Why is anger, in support of Free Speech unseemly? On either side of the fence. Isn't that what strong opinions cause? Vitriol is probably being expressed in some quarters, probably because, in these instances, the targets are offensive to civilized sensibilities. Derision is the only response appropriate. The patriots that you see here and elsewhere ARE NOT the perpertrators of this vitriol. We are RESPONDING. We have been silent long enough. The USA is NOT the cause of the evils of the world and we are extremely tired of being blamed for them. Our patience is at an end.

Gathering Of Eagles: S.W.A.C. After Action

SWAC Girl has some great pictures and reports on the Gathering of Eagles Rally they held for the Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County area. They had a great turnout of 150 folks who braved the wind and cold to stand up for America.

Some of the photos are up now and I just couldn't resist stealing this one.

Spank That Donkey posted great video of Gold Star Mom Rhonda Winfield who spoke at the event and a rundown with photos on how they put the rally together.

RightsideVA has a report on the event, also, with lots of photos. Believe it or not a commenter left several negative remarks critical of the event insinuating that new recruits are cripples and felons. You might want to give the spiteful comments a pass, but RightsidesVA's report is a must.

There is a lot to learn from these posts about putting together events in our own communities. It is a lot of work but what a great message to send to our Troops who need the support now more than ever.

Gathering Of Eagles: McDonald's After Action 3

There were so many Patriots at The Gathering Of Eagles in D.C. on March 17th that it was very hard to locate friends once the cell phone died.

With the huge turnout, there were enough people to stand guard not only at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, but at other memorials to the Fallen in the area.

There were enough red-blooded Americans to engage the protesters along the route as they left the Lincoln Memorial area (where we stood) and marched across the bridge that leads to Arlington Cemetery.

Braced at the foot of the bridge, like the Spartans at Thermopylae, stood a band of Iraq War Vets, Vietnam Vets, Protest Warriors, FReepers, and Patriots. It got a little hot and heavy down there but the line held and the anti-America protesters were herded off to the Pentagon.

AND THAT IS WHERE WE FOUND CONCRETEBOB!

Gathering Of Eagles: McDonald's After-Action 1

We knew it was going to be a very good day when we got on the Metro at Springfield/Franconia and there were more Veterans than moonbats on board as we headed into D.C.

A little snow still crusted the ground and a driving wind made it bitter cold but when we arrived at LZ Eagle there were nothing but warm smiles and a feeling that we had walked into a reunion of brothers, once separated by years and miles, now delighted to see each other again. I think it is safe to say there were no strangers in that crowd.

Outside of a military base, I have never seen so many MANLY men in one place. It was heady stuff, even for a settled-down-happily-married-type like myself. Most of the Vets wore their colors, some wore baseball caps or stetsons to i.d. their branch of service and I even spotted a couple of men in kilts (no mean feat in that freezing weather). F22strike (Gulf War Vet) wore a Bush/Cheney hat that worked quite well as a moonbat irritant much to our amusement.

It was touching to see the young Afghanistan/Iraq War Vets in the group treated with such respect and heartfelt gratitude by their older counterparts. The Vets also seemed to go out of their way to thank people who didn't have family in the military but who had come from all over to show their support and, well, I better post a few pictures before the screen gets all blurry.

Gathering of Eagles: 30,000!

This was posted on the web site over at Gathering of the Eagles:

30,000!
"That figure may be adjusted upward as more figure are tallied during the week. Fox News reported today that the anti-war protesters had significantly less than they expected. However, they are erroneously reporting that the Eagles were there in “equal numbers”. The truth is that we outnumbered them by at least three to one!
Consider…ANSWER had a year to plan their well-publicized event and were hoping for around 100,000. They actually drew about 5,000-10,000, according to various news reports today. The Gathering of Eagles, on the other hand, had about six weeks to plan an unprecedented response - and with no advertising, no publicity, no celebrity or political endorsement, no news coverage, and no big money, we had about 30,000 boots on the ground!
The volunteers poured themselves into this historic event, and all of you who attended gave so much to be there. I’ll stop here and let your words speak for themselves."
I can tell you what, I have been in quite a few counter-demonstrations and I have never seen that many people show up for our side before. We felt safe, united, and a part of something major that was on the correct side of the issue.
God Bless All Our Troops! We love you. This day was for you!

Gathering of Eagles; Prologue

Hi Guys and Gals! I am currently uploading the pictures form the Gathering of Eagles Counter-protest on yesterday. I will have the raw photo footage posted in about a half-hour.

In the meantime, here is my favorite photo. Lets just say, justice was served.

A Sailor thanks you

To all of the Eagles that gathered,
Thank you for such a great turnout. I wished so much to be there. And not just to leave here. It's warm, here. To see that great turnout, all over the web, brought a tear of joy and choked me up. Thank you again.

Here is a chance for United Effort.

This Gathering of Eagles is a chance for the more proactive groups of patriotic Americans to band together with the more establishment groups. I've attended a few counter protests to the "peace" movement run by the communist party of America. Unfortunately we are always outnumbered. Rarely seen are the VFW and American Legion. Don't get me wrong. This is NOT, I repeat, NOT a dig at those wonderful organizations, of which I AM a member. But they don't tend to organize for this type of activity. We need their help. We need to get their memberships as active as Protest Warrior and Free Republic, and of course, our Conservatives here in Virginia. The VFW and American Legion seem to need a wake up call to the danger of not responding to the propaganda of the left. If the mainstream patriotic/vet organizations members do not get in front of the cameras to fight the message put out by the press and the left (repetitive, I know), the "peace movement" gets all the news. Again, I have the greatest respect for all of the mainstream organizations. If they are doing what I've described, and I just haven't seen it, I apologize. But please don't let this moment pass us by. Thanks again, from the Sandbox

Hope Rides Alone

by Sgt. Eddie Jeffers USA
Ramadi, Iraq

I stare out into the darkness from my post, and I watch the city burn to the ground. I smell the familiar smells, I walk through the familiar rubble, and I look at the frightened faces that watch me pass down the streets of their neighborhoods. My nerves hardly rest; my hands are steady on a device that has been given to me from my government for the purpose of taking the lives of others.

I sweat, and I am tired. My back aches from the loads I carry. Young American boys look to me to direct them in a manner that will someday allow them to see their families again...and yet, I too, am just a boy....my age not but a few years more than that of the ones I lead.

I am stressed, I am scared, and I am paranoid...because death is everywhere. It waits for me, it calls to me from around street corners and windows, and it is always there. There are the demons that follow me, and tempt me into thoughts and actions that are not my own...but that are necessary for survival.

I've made compromises with my humanity. And I am not alone in this. Miles from me are my brethren in this world, who walk in the same streets...who feel the same things, whether they admit to it or not and to think, I volunteered for this...

And I am ignorant to the rest of the world...or so I thought.

But even thousands of miles away, in Ramadi, Iraq, the cries and screams and complaints of the ungrateful reach me. In a year, I will be thrust back into society from a life and mentality that doesn't fit your average man.

And then, I will be alone.

And then, I will walk down the streets of America, and see the yellow ribbon stickers on the cars of the same people who compare our President to Hitler.

I will watch the television and watch the Cindy Sheehans, and the Al Frankens, and the rest of the ignorant sheep of America spout off their mouths about a subject they know nothing about. It is their right, however, and it is a right that is defended by hundreds of thousands of boys and girls scattered across the world, far from home.

I use the word boys and girls, because that's what they are. In the Army, the average age of the infantryman is nineteen years old. The average rank of soldiers killed in action is Private First Class.

People like Cindy Sheehan are ignorant.

Not just to this war, but to the results of their idiotic ramblings, or at least I hope they are. They don't realize its effects on this war.

In this war, there are no Geneva Conventions, no cease fires. Medics and Chaplains are not spared from the enemy's brutality because it's against the rules. I can only imagine the horrors a military Chaplain would experience at the hands of the enemy.

The enemy slinks in the shadows and fights a coward's war against us. It is effective though, as many men and women have died since the start of this war.

And the memory of their service to America is tainted by the inconsiderate remarks on our nation's news outlets.

And every day, the enemy changes...only now, the enemy is becoming something new. The enemy is transitioning from the Muslim extremists to Americans. The enemy is becoming the very people whom we defend with our lives. And they do not realize it. But in denouncing our actions, denouncing our leaders, denouncing the war we live and fight, they are isolating the military from society...and they are becoming our enemy.

Democrats and peace activists like to toss the word "quagmire" around and compare this war to Vietnam. In a way they are right, this war is becoming like Vietnam. Not the actual war, but in the isolation of country and military.

America is not a nation at war; they are a nation with its military at war.

Like it or not, we are here, some of us for our second, or third times; some even for their fourth and so on. Americans are so concerned now with politics, that it is interfering with our war.

Terrorists cut the heads off of American citizens on the internet...and there is no outrage, but an American soldier kills an Iraqi in the midst of battle, and there are investigations, and sometimes soldiers are even jailed...for doing their job. It is absolutely sickening to me to think our country has come to this.

Why are we so obsessed with the bad news? Why will people stop at nothing to be against this war, no matter how much evidence of the good we've done is thrown in their face? When is the last time CNN or MSNBC or CBS reported the opening of schools and hospitals in Iraq? Or the leaders of terror cells being detained or killed? It's all happening, but people will not let up their hatred of President Bush. They will ignore the good news, because it just might show people that he was right.

America has lost its will to fight. It has lost its will to defend what is right and just in the world.

The crazy thing of it all is that the American people have not even been asked to sacrifice a single thing. It's not like World War Two, where people rationed food, and turned in cars to be made into metal for tanks.

The American people have not been asked to sacrifice anything. Unless you are in the military or the family member of a servicemember, its life as usual...the war doesn't affect you.

But it affects us.

And when it is over, and the troops come home, and they try to piece together what's left of them after their service...where will the detractors be then? Where will the Cindy Sheehans be to comfort and talk to soldiers and help them sort out the last couple years of their lives, most of which have been spent dodging death and wading through the deaths of their friends?

They will be where they always are, somewhere far away, where the horrors of the world can't touch them. Somewhere where they can complain about things they will never experience in their lifetime; things that the young men and women of America have willingly taken upon their shoulders.

We are the hope of the Iraqi people. They want what everyone else wants in life: safety, security, somewhere to call home. They want a country that is safe to raise their children in. Not a place where their children will be abducted, raped, and murdered if they do not comply with the terrorists demands. They want to live on, rebuild and prosper. And America has given them the opportunity, but only if we stay true to the cause, and see it to its end.

But the country must unite in this endeavor...we cannot place the burden on our military alone. We must all stand up and fight, whether in uniform or not. And supporting us is more than sticking yellow ribbon stickers on your cars. It's supporting our President, our troops and our cause.

Right now, the burden is all on the American soldiers.

Right now, hope rides alone.

But it can change, it must change. Because there is only failure and darkness ahead for us as a country, as a people, if it doesn't.

Let's stop all the political nonsense, let's stop all the bickering, let's stop all the bad news, and let's stand and fight!

Isn't that what America is about anyway?

I am thoroughly ashamed that our men and women serving overseas feel that they are alone in this endeavor. It is way past time for us to change that perception.

Our Troops Ask Congress to Get a Grip

Looks like the members of our armed forces are fulfilling their duty to fight “all enemies, both foreign and domestic:”

“WASHINGTON — A campaign by active-duty troops asking Congress to drop plans for a withdrawal from Iraq has collected more than 1,200 signatures in its first few weeks.
The “Appeal for Courage” — which reads as a response to the anti-war “Appeal for Redress” presented to Congress last month — has been circulating both at bases in Iraq and online though military blog sites.
Organizer Lt. Jason Nichols, a 33-year-old naval projects officer who has been in Baghdad since mid-January, said the goal is to keep lawmakers focused on letting the military finish its mission in Iraq, and not prematurely declare failure.
“The primary military lesson of Vietnam was that you could win a war on the battlefield, but lose it at home,” he said in an e-mail to Stars and Stripes. “We feel that although there are still tough days ahead, we are going to win the war in Iraq as long as we are allowed to stay until our job is done.”
The appeal, available at www.appealforcourage.org, calls for Congress “to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat.” It calls the war in Iraq a necessary and just cause, and asks lawmakers to actively oppose “media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home.”[
emphasis added.]

The phrase that stood out in my mind was “embolden my enemy….” Members of congress have to remember that the men and women who have signed this petition ARE the ones who are facing the enemy. They are the ones that are facing the sniper fire, I.E.D.s, sneak attacks, Islamic suicide missions, and other aggression by Saddam’s allies, old regime forces, and terrorist transplants from our “Mid-East Allies.” If anyone had a reason to run, they would, and they are asking to stay and finish the fight that THEY KNOW THEY ARE WINNING. It is a petition to Congress that I think should have more weight than those of the American people. We should have confidence in their American values; they would tell us if they thought the cause was not right. They believe in what they are doing and feel that the cause is right, and have asked to finish the job. We here in the continental US should honor that commitment.

The Violent Side of the Left Shows Again

Read this story (courtesy of “smash” at Michelle Malkin’s blog) and you will see how moonbats in Canada treated a 27 year old war hero from Afghanistan; Master Cpl. Collin Fitzgerald. The original story is here. Fitzgerald was at a bar in his hometown of Morrisburg when he was the victim of a “sneak attack” by people he claimed he didn’t even know:

“He says he'd been in the bar only about 20 minutes late Friday, visiting with a childhood friend who introduced him to people as a war hero, when he was suddenly struck from behind with some type of object. Four men jumped him and began beating on him. "They were saying 'What kind of hero are you now?'," Fitzgerald's mother Arlene told CTV News. Bystanders pulled the attackers off Fitzgerald and his friends drove him to hospital.”

Unfortunately, attacks like this are not unheard of here in the United States either. There are far more idiots out there than the four who attack Cpl. Fitzgerald, and some of them feel a need to help the “oppressed” get even. Most leftist rallies are a hodge-podge of political groups, encompassing ideologies like anarchists, communists, socialist groups, environmental and animal “rights” groups, some of them on the extreme radical fringe. Those of us who have come in close contact with the left know that though they give lip service to peace in their signs, chants, and slogans, actual peace is the last thing on their minds. I have personally been to a march in Washington DC some time ago and seen first-hand how physically vicious the left can be to dissenters. In one instance a close friend was attacked by two women who participated in a NOW-sponsored march. The assailants waited for some of us to leave and assaulted her, pushing her into her car and verbally threatening her. All of this, for nothing more than her presenting a counter-view to the left’s side of an issue.

By no means do I use this to discourage anyone from coming out and showing the left that they don’t speak for all Americans with their ridiculous rhetoric about any issue, be it the war, taxation, social issues, or their blind support of political candidates. What I am saying is that you should not trust all the motives and flowery speeches of those who purport to want peace. Some of them are very dangerous people; ones who should not be allowed into the realm of a political debate. I will whole-heartedly participate in the Gathering of Eagles this Saturday in Washington DC. What I would like for everyone to do who does come, is to think seriously about who is around you. Keep a safe distance from those around you who present a “differencing opinion” than yours – especially if they are particularly agitated or verbally abusive. Travel in groups as much as possible and keep security and safety on your mind at all times. Those who have cell phones, keep them charged up, and on your person at all times, and don’t be afraid to use them. If you feel afraid or cornered, escape and/or call for help. I would much rather see you alive in one piece than to let an anarchist or “Black Bloc” terrorist know that they injured a counter-protester in a crime that may never be punished. I want to see everyone back safely on Saturday night with lots of pictures and stories to tell. See you at the memorial.

"300" Movie; Iran Upset At 'Psycological Warfare' by U.S.

Looks like the Iranians are not happy with “300.” Imitating members of the “tin foil hat” crowd, Iranian officials are calling the movie a conspiracy between “Hollywood and ‘cultural authorities’ in the U.S. Little did he know, Hollywood considers itself to be the cultural authority of the US, and is already (for the most part) in the back pocket of the Islamic regime.

An Iranian official on Sunday lashed out at the Hollywood movie "300" for insulting the Persian civilization, local Fars News Agency reported.
Javad Shamqadri, an art advisor to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, accused the new movie of being "part of a comprehensive U.S. psychological war aimed at Iranian culture", said the report.
Shamqadri was quoted as saying "following the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Hollywood and cultural authorities in the U.S. initiated studies to figure out how to attack Iranian culture," adding "certainly, the recent movie is a product of such studies."
The movie's effort wound be fruitless, because "values in Iranian culture and the Islamic Revolution are too strongly seated to be damaged
by such plans", said the Iranin official.”

I hadn't seen the movie yet, as I have been busy, but if it makes "Iranian official" Shamqadri upset, I like it already. Seeing "300" now moves to the top of my list of things to do. BUT, what can you expect: Islamics didn't like "24" either.

A Few Words About Scarlet O’ Hillary

A couple of people have asked me about presidential wanna-be Hillary and her attempt at a southern accent in Selma over the weekend. I know all about it. I hadn’t mentioned anything about it, I guess, because I am not surprised. Things like that (with white liberals at the helm in black churches and “civil rights” organizations) happen all the time. White liberals go into black assemblies all the time and make fools of themselves to try and “relate” and be “like us.”

I do care that it happens. As a matter of fact, it frosts me each time I hear about some new stupid outrage that politicians like Hillary do to be “down” with her dark-skinned audience. But surprised at it? No, not at all. I would be far more interested in the responses of her audience, than what she says.

I keep looking for signs that black liberals and those who hold the Democratic Party dear, are at least feigning outrage at the lame attempts at “urbanizing” their speech and mannerisms when before black audiences. Surely, if this had come from one on the opposite side of their political spectrum the reception would not be warm. One can close their eyes and imagine the headlines that would ensue after this type of political gaff. But, I continue to wait: no rage, no indignation, no calls for an apology, nor calls for comments form the estate of the late Reverend James Cleveland (whom Hillary did a ****-poor job of imitating.) Jessie Jackson and Al “don’t mess the hair” Sharpton are nowhere to be found. Nope, the world goes on for liberals as if nothing happened, and conservatives sit back and wonder who they have to pay-off to get this kind of break. I have no answer for them, other than to say that those who could (and should’ve) been insulted seemed to like it. As a matter of fact, a lot of those present applauded and encouraged the scandal.

Anyway, as I said, don’t take my silence as complicity in this case. My reaction is a thinly veiled yawn to Hillary, and dashed hopes, again, that some of my more liberal people may one day not greet liberal silliness with laughter and encouragement, but with the silence and ostracizing that it deserves.

Dear R. W., This One's For You

When anti-America protesters covered a hillside in California with white crosses representing fallen Troops in Iraq, Move America Forward did not let it go unanswered. Members of MAF know full well the grief and heartache this causes the families and friends of men and women who died honorably and proudly in service to their country.

So the Patriots showed up on their way to D.C. for The Gathering of Eagles on March 17th with this huge flag.

And America says "AMEN!"

Gathering Of Eagles: Not This Time

Not This Time

They gathered in the 60s
And Ol' Glory burned and tore
With all their hollow slogans such as
"Let's make love, not war."

They took for granted freedoms
Struggled for in every clime.
But as their sequel gathers steam
We're saying "Not this time."
~~~~
Peaceniks still don't grasp the irony
As they demand free speech.
Atop soapboxes, with bullhorns
They curse and mock and preach.
And in our country that's their right
'Twas earned in blood and grime.
Secured by men they tried to shame
But not now, not this time.
~~~~

Perhaps someone can tell me why
When marching on for "peace"
These protesters bring cans of paint
And beat upon police?

Their anti-war activities
Bought and paid by foreign dime,
They used to go unchallenged,
But we promise - not this time.
~~~~
They assaulted soldiers coming home
With curse words, spit and worse.
All done, it's claimed, in search of peace
No matter how perverse.
With Fonda, Kerry, Ramsey Clark,
And others past their prime,
They hope to relive "glory" days.
But hold on, not this time.
~~~~

Their signs laced with profanity,
With swastikas and threats.
Parading by with coffins
Showing no signs of regret.

Demonstrating outside hospitals
With signs like "Maimed for Lies."
Well, free speech is a two-way street
You've got company this time.
~~~~
Outside the Capitol, perhaps
Is where these types belong.
But treading on such sacred ground
Is insolent and wrong.
They won't disturb memorials,
Or other spots sublime.
They've damaged several in the past,
But trust me, not this time.
~~~~

So on March 17th around
The Wall we will be lined.
Ensuring reverence does prevail,
No monuments maligned.

We'll peacefully assemble,
And we'll tolerate no crime.
Forty years ago they marched alone,
Forget it - not this time.
~~~~
American Heroism Under Fire: SFC Chad M. Stephens
Here is another example of what SHOULD have been the “human interest” story on the MSM media national broadcast back in June of 2004. Every time I read these, I realize just how brave and honorable our soldiers really are. I have said many times that we here at home should trust in the honor, bravery, and integrity of our fighting men and women. Here is just what that belief is based on:
"Urban combat often devolves into a series of actions that traverse winding streets and narrow alleys--sometimes for hours. That was certainly the case for Sgt. 1st Class Stephens on June 24, 2004, in Baqubah. That morning, Stephens and his platoon were called in to assist another platoon taking heavy fire from insurgents. Stephens’s platoon helped the others fight through the engagement and then proceeded further into Baqubah. And then they ran into the first ambush of the day. His company commander was severely wounded, and elements of the company disengaged to evacuate him--leaving an even slimmer force. Undaunted, Stephens’s platoon fought through the ambush and continued the offensive as it wound through the city…."
Read the rest to find out just how brave and TOUGH, SFC Chad Stephens really is.
This is America it it’s best.
Abortion Deaths Since Start Of Iraq War
I was browsing over at Psychmeister's Ice Palace when this caught my eye.
It was created by Michelle at Uncool Mommy:
I've heard a lot about how many people (read: terrorists and enemy combatants) bush&co. have killed by protecting americans from terrorism and the people of iraq from a mass-murdering, chemical weapon-possessing, rapist dictator. the irony is that most of these complaints come from the party that promotes the murder of children as a "privacy right."
American Heroism Under Fire: SSgt. Kent Padmore
So, where were YOU, when you heard about this in the mainstream media?
2006 Marine Corps Times Marine of the Year has been awarded to Staff Sgt. Kent Padmore for heroism under fire in Iraq:
“On June 23, 2005, then-Sgt. Padmore was leading a security force near Fallujah, Iraq, when his convoy was ambushed. The attack began when a suicide car bomber crashed into the lead vehicle. Padmore immediately jumped out to assess the damage to the lead vehicle. Even with enemy fighters firing from rooftops – and with .50 caliber rounds firing off in all directions as the vehicle burned – Padmore dashed across 200 yards of open ground to reach those injured by the blast.”
Read the rest and find out what else happened to SSgt. Padmore, and what the soldiers of this country are made of.
This is How We "Oppress" Afghanistan
We conservatives have made mention many times of how things are better in Iraq now than before, due in part to some of the improvements we have made in the infrastructure of the country. Here is an example of what coalition forces from “the great Western Satan” are doing to oppress those in Afghanistan:
Courtesy: CENTCOM
“[British Secretary of State for Defense Desmond Browne] outlined British efforts in Afghanistan, including a U.K.-led provincial reconstruction team in Helmand that is implementing projects “aimed at improving the lines of ordinary Afghans.”
"These include digging wells, distributing food, providing a generator to a hospital in Lashkar Gah, repairing schools, building classrooms and a midwifery hospital, reinforcing river banks and flood defenses, and refurbishing tractor plows to encourage legitimate agriculture.
“There is no question but that the reconstruction work, when completed, will make a significant and life-changing difference to more than 1.8 million people in Helmand province and throughout the south of Afghanistan,” he said. “The reason for that is that the development will not only generate electricity for people and communities who have never had it before, but add substantially to the agriculture potential of the Helmand River Valley by doubling the area that can be tilled.””
Continue like this, and we will have a waiting list for countries who want to be similarly "oppressed."
British Troop Withdrawal May Be A True Re-deployment
Everyone has heard about the announcement last week by British Prime Minister Tony Blair that he was withdrawing 1,600 troops from Iraq.
What you may not have heard was this:
“Blair said British forces will begin leaving Iraq, particularly Basra, where Iraqi security forces have taken primary responsibility for operations. He emphasized that the United Kingdom’s combat capability in Iraq won’t be diminished and that the remaining British forces will focus on training Iraqi forces and securing the Iranian border and supply routes.”
Hmm. That seems to be a lot different message than the media trumpeted British troop withdrawal from Iraq story, where the Brits are just packing up and going home. Also, the Brits are saying they are putting in 1,400 troops into Afghanistan:
“Great Britain will deploy an additional 1,400 troops to Afghanistan this summer, British Secretary of State for Defense Desmond Browne told the country’s Parliament yesterday. Most of the troops will be based in Helmand province, bringing Britain’s force in Afghanistan to about 7,700, he said. Browne said the additional troops are needed to continue progress already made, and he expressed disappointment that other NATO countries haven’t stepped forward to provide sufficient forces, particularly in light of an anticipated Taliban offensive this spring.”
So what we have here is a net removal of troops by Brittan of 200 troops; nothing to wring your hands over and wail “the Iraq war is doomed.” As a mater of fact what you DO have here is British troops stepping up to the plate and sending troops to help shore-up coalition forces in Iraq when they could have just reduced their numbers by 1,600 troops, since the Iraqis have taken over responsibility for security in Basra – which is in and of itself, great news. All this in the face of a rumored “Taliban offensive in the spring” which some on the left have hoped will be on the magnitude of the Tet Offensive in Vietnam (man they are fascinated with that war) but may never arrive or be vastly smaller in scope.
Either way, things are not as bad as we would be lead to believe.
Glenn Beck #3 of Top iPod Downloads at CNN
Here’s and interesting tidbit I found while doing some research on podcasting. As of today, the #3 most popular podcast “based on number of podcasts downloaded on iTunes” is the Glenn Beck Show.
So, either there is a lot of CNN viewers (typically left of center) who secretly like the show and download it to watch in privacy, or there are so many Right/center viewers going to CNN’s site to download Glenn’s show that it eclipses fans of all but two CNN shows. The latter is significant because the left is supposed to be far further into using new technologies than are people on the right. Might there now be cause to re-think that assumption, hmmm.
Here is the link to Glenn’s section of the CNN web site (which is pretty well hidden, by the way.)
Of course, you can find his web site here and info on his nationally syndicated talk show.
UCV Blog Technology Update
Hello everyone. Blogging for me has been light over the last few days, as I have been working on several projects. We are working behind the scenes to bring the blog to the next level: video and podcasts. The first project, podcasting, is nearing completion. A name for the podcasts has not yet been decided on.
The second project is to bring video to the blog. It is my aim to take you to where the news is, and let you see and hear for yourself what the people in the news are saying, and how the events are unfolding. We look forward to showing you the results of our work very soon.
