Spank That Donkey Reminded Me

I needed to tell everyone about a very cool American soldier who is now writing for the Washington Times.
I met CJ in February of 2006, right after he got back from Iraq. He and his family were playing tourist the same day I held my first official counter-protest of worldcantwait. We somehow got connected and he joined DCProtestWarrior and signed up for FreeRepublic immediately.
We have been friends ever since and he has written some nice things about me.

He and Troy Stewart from Bouhammer are doing some great stuff.

Voice of the Third Estate
The link to the WashTimes new military section Base News
Some very nice things were written about milbloggers.
(There was nothing there I didn't already know)

CJ's piece is here.
I won't tell you what he said about it in his email.

This Will Be My Last Appeal for Help

because on 11 May, if I'm not absolutely certain we have funding, the Declaration of Victory Rally will be cancelled. I can't keep the vendors or guests in limbo waiting or hoping for funding at the last minute. I have deployed troops who need support. The time and effort I've spent organizing this rally could have been directed at them.

I have done all I can do. The asshats on the left have a sugar daddy named George Soros who will throw money to any extreme left wing group who wants to call our troops killers and rapists. They have the media who will give them front page above the fold coverage on all their stupid anti-American anti-military protests.

We have no sugar daddy. Everything we do is done out pocket. I have never expected anyone to fund my agenda. Any help I get is because someone believed in what I was doing.

It would appear that no one believes we have won except the ones who did it, and the ones who supported them while they were doing it, and they shouldn't have to pay for their own celebration.

Here's the address:
1 West Cary Street
Richmond VA 23220

If 100,000 people sent me one dollar, I could pull this off.
As of today, we have 50 dollars and that was from ONE person.

I attended church on Sunday.

Sunday is a day for paying respects. Sunday is a day for prayer. Sunday is a day for thanks.

I did all three while on a small side trip to the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

I did not know what to expect when ConcreteBob reminded me that the museum was "right down the road" and suggested that I tag along on the side trip.

While this may be considered "sentimental", speaking as a former "gator" squid, and a brother and uncle to former Marines, I have to second this quote.

The USMC has created an incredible museum that absolutely tells the story of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. A visitor first enters the museum to find oneself in a beautiful, glass enclosed room, a vast space filled with the weapons and dioramas of vitally important periods of the Corps. Around the perimeter, carved into the marble, are the opinions that others have had of the Marines.
Most sailors disparage Marines, as is our tradition and, well...., our right. The Marines, while THEY don't want to admit it, are OUR Marines. And it was good to have them around when stationed in a desert, far, far away.

But don't let it go to your head.....

I was lucky to catch a tour. We started in the main room. The diorama that dominates the room is one depicting the Tarawa landing. It was a horrible fight. Due to miscalculations, inappropriate gear and training, mechanical breakdowns, etc, the Marines were massacred on what they expected to be a cakewalk. Trapped on the beach, the first wave of Marines watched helplessly while the second wave was cut to pieces. The ensuing battle was the first time that US Forces faced resistance to a beach landing.

It was my great honor to meet a former Marine of the Tarawa campaign while there. He was looking at the diorama while the guide was telling us the story of the battle. His sister told me, "He was there." Later, upon talking with him, he opened up in a small way, about his later experiences in the Philippines and on Guam. He spoke of laughing with his buddies, sitting on a beach in the Philippines, watching General McArthur make a fool of himself with his repeated camera shots of his "return." Then he spoke of the horrible time that they had under constant fire, taking shelter in their fighting holes, while the Japanese infiltrated in the dark and the rain, and friends were killed by friends by mistake. No one ever slept.

Apparently, this is the most that he has told anyone in the decades since WWII. I am deeply, deeply honored that this man told me even this small amount. Thank you.

Our tour continued into the story of Uncle Sam's Children. Starting with their creation in Tun's Tavern, our guide spoke of the mission of the Marines in the United States Navy, killing enemy officers.

The adventure continued, though not in detail, with a quick rendition of the history of the Marines in WWI and the Latin American campaigns.

The story of the modern Marine Corps can be found in the history of WWII. With the attack on Pearl Harbor, patriotic Americans swelled the ranks of the USMC. Our guide told us the heartbreak of Wake Island.

The flag flying over Wake was cut down by a Japanese soldier upon the surrender of the US forces. The flag was mailed home, but that soldier did not survive the war. How do we know this?

A Marine, standing sentry at Yokosuska, Japan, was approached by an elderly Japanese woman. Upon seeing him, she approached, and bowed deeply. She then handed him a box. Getting an interpreter, the sentry was told that this lady had received this from her son, during the war. She felt that it was about time to make peace with the Marine Corps and the United States. Inside was the banner from Wake Island.

The Museum also contains the first flag raised over Mt. Suribachi, along with bronze plaques containing a Globe and Anchor or an Anchor for each of the 6000+ Marines and Sailors killed at Iwo Jima.

Mt. Suribachi can be seen in the reflection in the plaques when photographed from a certain angle.

There is a reason that the only candy bars sold in the gift shop are Tootsie Rolls. That reason is the Retreat from the Chosin Reservoir. Starved, freezing Marines would suck on the frozen candy, which, though slight, enabled them to keep marching. Thousands of the wrappers lined the route of march.

Pictures cannot do justice to the other dioramas concerning that forgotten war: Korea.

Moving onto more recent history, our guide directed us into the steaming jungles of South Vietnam. Dominating the entrance to that area, the icon of that war, was a helicopter, much like the one flown by my brother.

Further stories of heroism, of course with an element of "the proper way to disobey orders," brought home much of the nature of that theater. The complexities in war fighting were illustrated by dioramas showing Hue City and Khe Sanh.

While not found at this museum, this sticker is appropriate at this time. I'm sure that Marines of a certain age will appreciate the sentiment.

I urge everyone to visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Go give thanks for the Jarheads. I'm sure that they'll appreciate it. And your soul will be better for attending church.

Semper Fi!

National Museum of Americans in Wartime

A unique opportunity is available to those that are interested. How often is it that citizens are able to get in on the "ground floor" of a developing organization? A new national museum is forming in Northern Virginia.

The National Museum of Americans in Wartime.

Milbloggers and children of all ages were made welcome at the current home of the museum. Introduced at Milblog Conference 2009, Craig Stewart presented a short brief about the project and invited attendees to visit.

While the mission of the museum is more serious, the trip was a model on how a modern, interactive museum will attract young people. By being TOTALLY COOL!!!!!!!

The first thing one notices upon arrival is the presence of huge, armored vehicles, parked on the property. Then one notices that there are hundreds more inside the "garage." And we're told that this is just one of many.....(Speaking as a former Navy cargohandler, these guys can give lessons on packing huge vehicles into tight spaces.....)

Future Milblogger zeroing his home defense weapon. Pesky hippies....
(Actually this pic screams for a caption contest...put it in the comments.)

Now here is the TOTALLY COOL part. They were crazy enough to let a few milbloggers DRIVE!

"Yes, I am this cool. It's a gift."

ConcreteBob in his natural environment.

Then there are the idiots daring bloggers that RIDE INSIDE the tank driven by their crazy expert friends. Here I am, going airborne. Bob swears that he wasn't jumping ramps.....
Note the very cool, military spec, anti-glare/anti-dust, xray glasses. Safety first!

Here is the face of a man who has decided to acquire, not one, but two, of these vehicles......two, so we can race. Why else? Besides, think how much beer one of these things can hold. Perfect for tailgate parties.

Or if you want a convertible?

Or if tracks are too much for you....
This one is armed, so you have that going for you:

While most visitors will not have the chance to drive one of these historical beasts, they will be able to participate in other ways. The museum wants to provide interactive opportunities to see, get inside, re-enact, and demonstrate what life was like for the American warfighter. The Museum will tell a distinctly American story in a multidisciplinary interactive setting by crafting together the personal stories of the individual found throughout the military and civilian worlds. They will weave together the homefront and the battlefront and show how they are utterly, and forever, interdependent.

Their Landscapes of War will educate and enlighten visitors about the conditions of the battlefront, and the culture formed therein. The Museum will focus on the veterans from all services from WWI to the present, including those that went into harm's way wearing civilian garb, telling the stories and sharing the experiences of all those that answered the call to protect America.

Their motto: Honor, Educate, Inspire

Let us work together to fulfill that motto.

Opening day: scheduled on Veterans Day, November 11, 2012.

Can neither confirm nor deny the rumors out of D.C.

What happens in D.C. stays in D.C. !

The Friday night Pre-planning conference and Cocktail party was in full swing upon arrival.

I can neither confirm nor deny that a blogger was put into jail, wore woman's underwear (as an ascot), and was subjected to humiliating photographs.

Said blogger is rumored to have escaped and was seen in the company of many ne'er- do-wells, rakes, layabouts, and former Marines, imbibing alcohol and swathed in cigar smoke. Many wild and independent women were noted to be in the vicinity.....(links would be posted but I'm afraid of offending said women. They would ask, "Why did SHE get "wild" and I got "independent?" They were all wild, independent, and beautiful.) Of course, said former Marine was surrounded by them at all times....

Bloggers of great renown deigned to grace us with their presence. Possible fanboy activity was sighted. Apparently, said escaped blogger is more notorious than he realized, receiving wonderful welcomes from the previously noted wild and independent women, upon introduction by one of those previously mentioned former Marines.

Photographic evidence is lacking due to the anonymous blogger being too damn tired to figure out how to put film into these new fangled cameras. That and his hands were filled with adult beverages. Saturday was no better. Stupid camera......(digital immigrant, indeed)

Because said blogger has determined that he sucks as a reporter when covering conferences, better accounts can be found here. ( I can't make sense of my notes.....)

A great big thank you goes out to all of the milbloggers (you know who you are) for the great welcome that I got. I met so many great people, I won't try to thank them all personally.
Thanks to you all. See ya in the internets....

Back At the House

The last three days were, to put it mildly, EFFFFING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is entirely too much to cram into just one post, so we'll be updating and posting for the next three, six, eight, 14 days...maybe. Cargosquid wil have a better post up shortly. He's actually turning into quite the little reporter and managed to embarass me only once all weekend. I however, tried to emabarass him at every turn. (its a Navy/Marine thing)

First, because I am a responsible conservative and have many many many many non-responsible liberals who need their mortgages paid, I had to work Thursday and Friday, so I missed the best Marine ever, Major Pain, who had to make a last minute trip back to where ever he had to make a last minute trip back to. (you really didn't think I was going to tell you did you? Some things are still sacred). He was on his way back Saturday night from where ever it was he went Friday, and my BFF, Mrs Diva, and I had a blast texting him while he was driving back and we were consuming Coronas and Bailey's. Anyway, I missed the one person I REALLY needed to talk to. Oh well, everything happens for a reason.

Friday night, I get to Arlington in time to see Bouhammer's lastest project, "At War".
Guys, let me tell you something: this film ROCKS THE HOUSE!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get my grubby little fingers on the DVD, which will be out sometime around the end of the summer. This movie has some great music, and features some kick-ass MLDK (Major League Door Kicker) Canucks who will forever be heroes in my mind. These guys are fearless. It also has some NG (National Guard) units from Utah, Oregon, and Washington state who are no slackers either. If you want to see the ground truth from Asscrackistan, this is the film to see. This blog will keep everyone updated on the release of the DVD.

After the movie, my LLNWL was glowing a steady red, so I schlepped outside to the balcony and my other favorite Marine and documentary film-maker JD Johannes was doing the same thing. (Ya'll remember Outside the Wire 07 which I blogged about after the 2007 CPAC.) JD has another one ready for ya. "Baghdad Happens". I have my copy. Its mine. NO ONE WILL GET THIS COPY. (I still can't find my copy of Outside the Wire...it's out on loan and making a circuit. It'll be home soon.)

So after JD and I re-acquaint ourselves, we grab some chow and I bout dropped my beer. Standing against the wall, looking very menacing, is none other than Bill Roggio. Holy Crap!!!!
THE MAN!!! (I actually met Bill at CPAC 2007 as well, and he remembered me. That always astounds me.) Bill and I start talking and I'm telling him about our rally in June, and he's onboard, and MAY, MAY be able to make it. So he asks about my background and I'm explaining how I got started with rallies and the Walter Reed/Code Oink incident and I say the words "Protest Warrior" and his eyes light up, he gets really animated and tells me how much he loves PW. (Bill is a Jersey boy, he's serious, he's Italian, and he was absolutely beside himself when code oink started their BS at WRAMC). He had heard about my exploits, and told me how much he appreciated what I did. How cool would it be to hear Bill Roggio tell stories about Iraq?

OK. I need some sleep. CS will have some more, including our little trip to Prince William County Sunday morning where, thanks to JP from milblogging.com, yours truly got to drive an APC and my A#1 USOGirl Jamie didn't. (neener neener)

Pelosi is incompetent,

but, you knew that....

Well, I hope you knew that.

Either that or she's a lying POS that should be exposed. Bring on the show trials!

Is she telling everyone, that in the YEARS we have been discussing the definition of torture, deeply soul searching as a nation, she did not get briefed on CIA techniques? She ignored possible wrong doing and looked the other way?

SHE'S THE FREAKING SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE? SHE HASN'T LOOKED AT THIS UNTIL NOW?
She's saying that she was "not briefed" on the enhanced interrogation techniques.

So, she either:
1) willfully ignored possible wrong doing,
2) WAS ignorant of greatly publicized activities,
3) supported the actions, THEN, and is now lying about it now,
4) is too incompetent to understand the situation.

I can picture her now, hands over her ears, "LALALALALALALA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU."
She's the Sgt Schultz of the House of Representatives........

"I see nothink! I know nothink!"

Unfortunately, she's using her "I'm an incompetent idiot" act to score short term political points.

World Leaders Need To Understand

Mark S. McGrew

American people are uniting, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean in the form of "Tea Parties" named after the Boston Tea Party demands of "No Taxation Without Representation" in the year 1773, which helped start the American Revolutionary War with England in 1775. Tea parties are being held for people to object to unconstitutional government acts, taxes, and loss of freedoms.

In less than 30 days, demonstrations have been organized and are scheduled in 2,000 communities, starting April 15, 2009. Anyone can find information on where Tea Parties are being held or how to form your own Tea Party at http://www.freedomworks.org/.

Something World leaders had better understand and understand well: Obama and his mentally deranged friends are not going to destroy America any more than countless other socialist fascist fanatics have tried in the past.

If World leaders want to keep their jobs and keep their nations' economies intact, they would be smart to drop Obama like a hot potato. Obama and his backers are pulling a giant scam on the rest of the World, just as they have on American voters.Americans have wised up. It is only the major media that keeps pounding the drums of the Obama lie. Ask yourselves a question: Why are many of America's major newspapers that have been in business for over 100 years, filing for bankruptcy and closing every week? If you believe, as major news tell us, that the reason is lowered advertising revenue and more people getting their news from the Internet, you're hallucinating. The real reason is because Americans are thoroughly fed up with the lies, the slanders, the politically-correct brain vomit that major news pours out and their astounding absolute refusal to portray any semblance of the truth.

Nothing Obama does will continue. Everything he does will be retracted by a very near future administration.

One thing that is certain, of all that can be observed about the current Obama administration, corporate executive friends of Obama, and the American judicial system: Whether in the boardroom, the courtroom, or the bathroom, scum sticks together. When the scum is annoying enough, it is scrubbed, cleaned, and thrown in the trash. That's why people have cleansers and society has prisons.

World leaders are making a very dangerous mistake to think that we, the people of America, are not making preparations for cleaning house. This house belongs to us, not a gang of decrepit, senile old men, pursuing a useless fantasy of a New World Order that has a 2,000 year history of abject failure.

Here's your first clue: The very first line of the US Constitution says, "We the people... establish this Constitution."

Hate Crimes Legislation Update

All crimes are "hate" crimes. The perpetrator "hates" that you have more than he does, that you have a job, act responsibly. If they liked you, they wouldn't rob you, hit you, or murder you. Stuffing this legislation down the throats of the American people is just one more way the dhimmicrats can exert control on behavior and by extension, your speech and your beliefs.

http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=500474
A conservative activist closely monitoring the hate crimes" legislation pending before a House committee says although the measure still poses a threat to the religious freedom of Christians who speak out publicly against homosexuality, the foundation of the bill has been removed.

Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee had planned on holding a vote on the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act yesterday, but due to a large amount of Republican amendments to the bill, the vote was postponed until this morning. The bill would add homosexuals and transgender people to the list of protected categories under federal hate crimes law. Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, notes that Democrats were forced to eliminate a key portion of the bill -- the findings section.

"We exposed the fact that they have fraudulent claims that there was an epidemic of hate against homosexuals and drag queens, transgenders -- and that claim was the foundation of the bill," she notes. "They claimed that homosexuals are fleeing across state lines to avoid persecution, and that perpetrators are crossing state lines to commit crimes against these gays, lesbians, and transgenders, and that they have trouble purchasing goods and services or finding employment. We nailed them on the fact that that's a lie."

Lafferty says during yesterday's markup hearing, Democrats neglected to mention that in America -- a country of 300 million people -- there have been only 1,521 cases of hate against homosexual, bisexual, and transgender people. The Judiciary Committee hearing resumes at 9:00 a.m. Central time today. A vote on the House floor is expected next week.

Sgt Shultz "I Know Nutting"

Commentary from Joan Swirsky. Its a very long piece, and I've excerpted a few paragraphs here. Make the jump and read the whole thing.

The Philadelphia Bulletin

Mr. Know Nuthin’
In spite of the fact that the president of the United States is supposed to be the most informed person on the face of the earth, when the most dramatic opposition to his policies took place on Tax Day, April 15, his press secretary, Robert (Baghdad Bob) Gibbs, said that the president was “unaware” of the Tea Party tsunami.

In Internet lingo, this was a huge LOLOL! Of course President Obama knew. That is why the day before the Tea Parties, on April 14, he went into full campaign mode to tell students at Georgetown U. how peachy keen things were; why he sent his Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to echo the message to students at Morehouse U., and why the White House blast e-mailed and blast-faxed its left-wing media lackeys the Talking Points they hoped would kill the damned Tea Party movement in its infancy.

But the Obama and Bernanke speeches failed, as did all those media Talking Points. That is not to say that the so-called journalists of the so-called mainstream media — the same media that are dying on the vine every day — were silent. So terrified are they of Democracy in Action that they tripped over themselves, and each other, in a failed effort to diminish the impact of this national movement and to vilify its participants. Fox News, however, gave the Tea Parties 24-7 coverage and garnered the kind of sky-high ratings that every news organization dreams about.I understand why the president was clueless. After all, a United States president is a busy man.

He can’t possibly know of everything going on in our country, especially when he is hard at work:
• Bowing fawningly to the terrorist-funding King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia
• Sharing a strangely intimate finger-entangled greeting with the American-loathing Marxist president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez
• Sitting mutely through a 90-minute American-bashing screed by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega
• Sending love notes (uh, “outreach” messages) to the America-reviling president of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
• Sending his sell-out-Israel emissaries to the America-hating president of Syria, Bashar Assad
• Making sweet overtures to Cuba’s tyrant Raul CastroAnd generally apologizing to our enemies for what he believes is America’s “arrogance” and “divisiveness.”

But something unexpected happened to our neophyte president on the way to shoving his socialist swill down the throats of the American public. They rejected it. In a recent article, “Obama’s Incurable Nausea,” I described why leftists routinely throw up. It is because anything that suggests American exceptionalism, respect for our military, adherence to our Constitution, small government, low taxes and free-market capitalism makes them sick, and the only thing that relieves their chronic nausea is, well, vomiting on America.

But “unlike the Left, who own the protest movement” says writer and publisher Judi McLeod: “Tea Party patriots did not scream obscenities or insult the very men and women who make it possible for [protests] to happen every day in America — the courageous U.S. troops and their allies in Afghanistan and Iraq.” Instead, they “sported tea bags on their lapels [and] waved the Stars and Stripes … something that Barack Obama cannot or will not do for America: show pride in being part of what is the greatest nation on earth! Even as the Obama regime cripples the country’s economy; even though Obama bagman George Soros gloated at the human suffering in the current recession, calling it ‘the culmination of my lifetime,’ patriots were taking their country back!”

Writing that the DHS document — declaring protesters de facto domestic terrorists — “reads like a declaration of war against decent American citizens,” radio-host Dr. Laurie Roth, who spoke before 3,500 Tea Party attendees in Spokane, predicts that “the nation has started its wake-up call. We are all fed up to our gills and done being just angry while watching our government violate our Constitution, tax us to death, steal from future generations, and continue to march against our freedoms! This is just the beginning!”
And in a wonderful recounting of the original Boston Tea Party of 1773, writer Lee Cary — in a clear allusion to the Obama administration being “unaware” of the modern-day Tea Parties of April 15 — sardonically quips that the “Parliament didn’t get the last Tea Party either.”

“Deliberative legislative bodies,” Mr. Cary continues, “tend, then and now, to be dismissive when the people express an opinion they, the ruling class, don’t share. When asked to comment on the April 15, 2009 Tea Parties across America, Press Secretary Robert (Baghdad Bob) Gibbs, said, in essence,
‘The people just don’t appreciate all the things the Crown has done for them.’

”Referring to the current Tea Parties, Patriot Post proprietor, Mark Alexander said: “The Tea Party of 1773 was a tactical event, but … as more Patriots across the nation take a lesson from our Founders, and make the leap from tactical skirmishes to a unified strategic front, protests will become far more focused and effective.”

And after ToThePointNews.com’s Dr. Jack Wheeler and his wife watched Tea Party demonstrations around the country, he wrote: “We’re going to have our country back again. There is hope for America after all. We wanted to believe this, but our faith had been profoundly shaken by the act of mass insanity last Nov. 4. Now we could see with our own eyes — America is coming to its senses. The tea parties will continue. Wait till you see how many more of them and how bigger they are on July 4.”

But, Dr. Wheeler warns, “One thing you can count on, the patriotic rejection of [Obama’s] fascism is not going to fade, it is going to grow … in an endless stream, for the people providing them are compulsively fascist in a religiously fanatical way. Fascism is their religion.”

Tough words until you consider that Mr. Obama’s FBI was covertly doing surveillance at each Tea Party throughout the nation, according to Douglas J. Hagmann, director of www.canadafreepress.com, and its founding editor, Ms. McLeod. In a chilling commentary, the authors describe the following:“…a single-page confidential directive issued by the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC (FBIHQ) was sent to each of the 56 field offices located across the United States on or about March 23, 2009, instructing the Special Agents in Charge (SACs) of those offices to verify the date, time and location of each Tea Party within their region and supply that information to FBI headquarters in Washington. The source stated this correspondence termed the Tea parties ‘political demonstrations,’ and added that the dissemination of the directive was very tightly controlled.

“In addition to obtaining or confirming the location and time of each ‘demonstration,’ each field office was instructed to obtain or confirm the identity of the individual(s) involved in the actual planning and coordination of the event in each specific region, and include the local or regional Internet web site address, if any. The information collected by region was then reportedly sent to FBI Headquarters.“... [a] second directive was issued on or about April 6, 2009, that reportedly instructed each SAC to coordinate and conduct, either at the field office level and/or with the appropriate resident agency, covert video surveillance and data collection of the participants of the Tea Parties. Surveillance was to be performed from ‘discreet fixed or mobile positions’ and was to be performed ‘independently and outside of the purview of local law enforcement.’”

“Listen to what I am saying,” said Mr. Hagmann’s source. “The Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Assessment that is receiving so much attention is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the true patriotic citizens of this country are on the Titanic.”

Happy Lenin's Birthday!

Happy Earth Day! Lenin's Birthday! He was SUCH a leader of conservation! He was the first,...no,... He,uh, no,... Oh! He instituted centralized, tyrannical government that, by force of law, took away property rights and restricted freedom, ie, communism, under which, said government absolutely raped the environment of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. So, he has that going for him....

Earth Firster's and their ilk promote centralized, tyrannical government, that by force of law, takes away property rights and restricts freedom. They have been implicated in eco-terrorism and property violence. The early "ecology" movement grew out of the communist movement of the 70's, advocating the same principles, in order to "save the earth" versus the just the workers, thereby missing the irony of promoting some of the worst offenders against the earth.
Lenin once said that, "It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed." Environmentalists second this wholeheartedly when they restrict the ownership and control of private property through the guise of saving the environment.

Lenin's political philosophy knew nothing of morality, he once said that, "There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel." Some environmentalists take this to heart as well, placing metal spikes in trees so that when these trees get to lumber mills the spike will ruin the saws and have in some cases injured or even killed mill workers.

Noted environmental genius, former Vice-President Al Gore, said in his book Earth in the Balance, "Adopting a central organizing principle means embarking on an all-out effort to use every policy and program, every law and institution, every treaty and alliance, every tactic and strategy, every plan and course of action to use, in short, every means to halt the destruction of the environment."
Of the 365 days in the year, perhaps THIS one would have been a better choice for Earth Day. Yesterday would have been a much better day. The struggle between the ideas of "conservation" and "preservation" strike a balance between the needs of humanity both physically and spiritually. John Muir was a true champion of preservation. Gifford Pinchot developed the idea of "sustainable resource developement."

As a conservative, I am all for conservation. We conservatives live in this environment, too. Contrary to liberal propaganda, conservatives love themselves some clean air and water. However, conservation of our environment and resources has devolved into a religion. Feelings and emotions have been substituted for science and actual conservation. With the addition of politics into the witch's brew of the modern "ecology" movement, greed for power and money has trumped any possible benefits of conservation. While the arguments for and about "global warming" and its myriad possible causes, can be found throughout the internet, it is indisputable that the "cause" of global warming promotes the growth of governmental power and the abolition of many freedoms. Because governmental power now decides which industry succeeds or fails, big business has jumped on the bandwagon of an ecology movement backed by force of law. Many "green" industries cannot succeed without government intervention. Free money, anyone?

The removal and prevention of pollution, the stewardship of the environment based on science an common sense, the husbandry of resources, etc., are all proper conservative ideas. Proof that free market ideas, freedom, and property rights trump socialist ideas in promoting a healthy environment are the examples of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Western Europe, as opposed to.....well, the rest of the world.

However, in honor of Lenin's Birthday Earth Day, I present the following:

In honor of Earth First:

Oh, and make sure you hit Wal-Mart today. Buy some incandescent light bulbs. Stock up. The environmentalists have gotten them banned by 2012.
The phase-out of incandescent light is to begin with the 100-watt bulb in 2012 and end in 2014 with the 40-watt.
So now we get to import mercury filled Chinese light bulbs, built in EPA exempt, slave labor factories, powered by dirty coal, in the the great environmental paradise of Communist China and transported to the USA using huge ships powered by oil. So, we have that going for us......

We Need Someone Else

Family Security Matters
Part 1 of 2

No one should doubt that one of the most important Cabinet posts is that of Secretary of Homeland Security. Terrorism is one of the defining issues of the 21st century. The U.S. faces a daunting array of threats to our domestic security. The occupant of that post must be up to the job. The stakes are too high. While Secretary of Commerce, Education, Agriculture and other Cabinet posts have merit, few Americans can name the posts – let alone their Secretaries. But nearly everyone who is at least occasionally paying attention to the real world can name the Secretary of Homeland Security.

And to prove her gravitas, last week Secretary Napolitano allowed a DHS report to paint veterans as possible converts from war heroes to terrorists. Not an inspiring performance.

Threats to the US: 2009
Let’s take inventory of the Homeland Security threats facing the United States: Numerous inadequately secured sources of hazardous materials (think weapons of convenience); a growing fifth column of radical Islamists in our midst developing paramilitary training camps containing increasingly powerful weapons including in all likelihood advanced armor piercing high caliber arms, our own home grown crazies (think Timothy McVeigh); ~11 million illegal aliens, some of which are violent criminals, members of gangs, drug cartels or engaged in the ‘human pipeline (jihadists and others), human trafficking, domestic gangs and drug cartels going international and teaming up with global criminal or terrorist groups.

From a health preparedness perspective, DHS has yet to provide the true leadership to connect all the preparedness regimes, NIMS notwithstanding. Overcrowded health care facilities incapable of dealing with a widespread epidemic, overburdened and undertrained public health departments are mostly unprepared how to spend DHS funds and clearly unfamiliar with security – in spite of being an ersatz performance culture of preparedness.

Then there’s the persistent vulnerability based upon government reports…our porous borders to the North and South, a Mexico problem that threatens the security of several US states.

Let’s not forget the political officials on the take or not paying their taxes. While we’re at it, we continue to face, even eight years post-9/11, inadequate safeguards on technology transfers, biological labs, cyber terrorism, protections against tainted imported products (intentional and accidental), inadequate screening of shipping, poorly protected railways carrying highly toxic chemicals, readily available radioactive materials, inconsistent security oversight of BSL 3 and BSL 4 labs (hold the most dangerous pathogens known) nationwide and the list goes on and on and on. The public remains woefully disengaged from the preparedness process as suggested by numerous security experts, the World At Risk Report Commission, and studies demonstrate first responder agencies – medical and law enforcement are inadequately prepared for asymmetric warfare using unconventional weapons.

Oh and let’s not forget those über dangerous folks – our veterans. Yes, the “go to” people our nation depended upon to protect the Republic have now been labeled potential targets as vulnerable to extremist recruitment and possibly a risk factor for extreme violence. Painting all veterans with the same brush is an indefensible and abominable treatment of people who served their country. Yet the veterans are described as dupes of right wing influence in a DHS report. Veterans as a group deserve better treatment and respect, and do not warrant being singled out as a threat to domestic security. The U.S. government’s track record on caring for returning veterans is in need of further scrutiny, NOT the folks who wore the uniform.

And the “go to” person President Obama tapped to handle these problems is none other than Janet Napolitano. You could almost hear the terrorists cheering and the career intelligence professionals groaning from day one. Is there anyone tracking morale or retirements at the key agencies under the DHS umbrella? Bringing disparately functioning performance cultures together – intelligence, law enforcement, disaster response – has its merits, but when the proverbial you-know-what hits the fan, that is not the time to exchange business cards. And clearly, the silo mentality within organizations historically has been a barrier to effective collaboration, especially when you add the layers of security classifications and the complexities of “courtesy clearances.” But putting these agencies under one roof isn’t the instant cure for these ills, proximity to teams notwithstanding. No one should doubt the dedication of the respective agencies in DHS or disrespect their noble efforts for a good cause, but DHS is still being pulled by multiple strings in different directions; net result…where is it going? And who ultimately is leading it?

Is Janet Napolitano up to the job? And if not, what can we do about it? There are many ways to examine the effectiveness of public policies and the people hired to create, enforce or repair them. Since the proof is in the tasting, ones record, resume or list of actions is evidence enough.

Let’s take a look at Secretary Napolitano’s first public efforts.
Secretary Napolitano gave us a great insight from day one into what she was all about. In fact, no sooner had her words faded from her initial roll out she was then called out to explain why the expurgation of terms such as “terrorist,”, “terrorism,” and “the war on terror” from the lexicon of preparedness and DHS after her first speech to Congress.

Napolitano replied to the criticism: “In my speech, although I did not use the word ‘terrorism,’ I referred to ‘man-caused disasters.’ That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.”

When I first heard the term “man-caused disasters” my first thought was the South Park episode where they spoof form VP Al Gore and his global warming hysteria, replacing it on the show with manic concerns over a dangerous creature – he was trying to warn the kids about “man-bear-pig.” (Check it out on YouTube…it is hysterically funny). Then I thought the biggest “man-caused disaster” was the election of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the total control of the White House and Congress by folks who don’t seem to grasp the reality of good versus evil. It may soundssquare and trite but both exist. The latter cannot be wished away or destroyed as easily as erasing words in a policy book.

“Man caused disasters.” Let’s be frank. How does sounding like an idiot enhance Secretary Napolitano’s capability “to prepare for all risks?” Buying into this, let alone being a mouthpiece for such nonsense, is beneath this intelligent woman. She is not an idiot. She should not be placed in or agree to a position where she has to sound like one. Actions always speak louder than words. Weak words betoken weak actions.

But let’s drink the Kool Aid® for a moment. If a change in definition could enhance capability, adopt the slightly more meaningful terms the Brits use: “Disruptive Threats” or “Disruptive Challenges” – even though those are inadequate to the task as well. Though not as comical as “man-caused disasters” or “man-bear-pig” they, too fail to underscore the intent, the context, the evil associated with the event. Terrorism is just that – an act – a willing, deliberate, planned, and executed act of murder and destruction. “Man-caused disasters” or “all risks” do a disservice to the special and specific category of threat we face – terrorism, the intentional use of violence directed consciously by people towards other specific human and physical targets for the sole purpose of killing and frightening and destroying to accomplish an agenda.

Hey Hey Ho Ho Napolitano Has To Go

The Center for Individual Freedom

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano MUST BE FIRED!
And just so it's perfectly clear, we aren’t talking about her resigning (either gracefully or in disgrace). And it’s way too late for backhanded apologies, like the 'slap-in-the-face' she already gave the brave men and women who have wore a uniform and proudly served this country.
Janet Napolitano must be FIRED... and it should have been done yesterday! You see, the problem is not just that Janet Napolitano's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) put together a so-called anti-terrorism security assessment that targets mainstream Americans as dangerous extremists.
We're talking about millions of people who believe that our government is too large and taxes us too much, like those who participated in the TEA Parties on tax day. We are talking about everyday Americans who believe that the 2nd Amendment actually gives people the right to bear arms; people who are pro-life; the millions of people who believe that our nation’s immigration laws should be strictly enforced.
And the problem is not simply that this so-called security assessment targets patriotic Americans - and they are talking about YOU - as "right wing extremists," or, as Peter Kirsanow with the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights put it: “That DHS report warning about all manner of ‘right-wing extremists’ could be considerably shortened if it simply alerted law-enforcement officials to be on the lookout for people from ‘small towns (who are) bitter (and) cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment.’”
The problem is that this is the same Janet Napolitano who just recently told us that horrendous, unspeakable acts committed by actual terrorists, dead set on destroying our country and killing Americans, should be called “man-caused disasters."
Specifically she told Der Spiegel: “In my speech, although I did not use the word 'terrorism,' I referred to 'man-caused' disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.”
So... when it comes to actual acts or threats of terrorism against mainstream Americans, we should move beyond the "politics of fear."
But patriotic Americans like YOU – who exercise your Constitutionally-protected First Amendment rights – pose a threat to the government.
Is it actually possible that Napolitano and Barack Obama and even some within the Obama Administration are so twisted as to believe that Islamic Terrorists are the good guys and that you are the bad guys?
Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin in Thursday's Washington Times wrote: “What and who exactly are President Obama’s homeland security officials afraid of these days? If you are a member of an active conservative group that opposes abortion, favors strict immigration enforcement, lobbies to protect Second Amendment rights, protests big government, advocates federalism, or represents veterans who believe in any of the above, the answer is: You.”
If what is contained in this leaked DHS security assessment does not bring you to the realization that it is time for all patriotic Americans who love freedom to stand up and shout that we're not going to take it anymore... it is quite possible that nothing will.

The DHS Report Targets All Of You Bitter People Out There Who Cling To Guns And Religion. Malkin is not alone. Syndicated radio talk-show host Michael Reagan went so far as to ask the following: “Have we really come to this? Has Adolf Hitler's propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels been reborn and recruited by the Obama administration to scare the heck out of the American people with absurdities such as this whacked-out document?"
Lance Fairchok writing for AmericanThinker.com hits the nail squarely on the head. Calling this so-called security assessment "a shot across the bow" he plainly states that DHS is NOT simply referring to individuals living on society's fringe.
The assessment is, in fact, referring to YOU and patriotic Americans like you.
Moreover, Fairchok believes this assessment was hastily and sloppily written in order to fit a sick and disgusting preconceived notion: "This 'assessment' is not an analysis of a national trend or an examination of existing evidence or even recent radical literature; it is targeting those whose politics fall within the broad insinuations contained within its pages, namely mainstream conservatives."
Judge Andrew Napolitano with FOX News essentially says the same thing: "The summary contains few proper names, has no footnotes of any significance, lists very few sources, and is drafted with a prejudice against anyone who criticizes the role of the federal government in our lives today. It lumps together in its definition of 'rightwing extremism' hate groups, anti-government groups, and single issue groups 'such as opposition to abortion or immigration.'” Let's state it more plainly. As far as Janet Napolitano's DHS is concerned, if you are pro-life or believe in strict enforcement of our immigration laws, or if you attended one of those TEA parties, you're the same as a neo-Nazi, or a member of the KKK. You are dangerous and pose no less a threat than the real terrorists trying to destroy our great country. Is it possible that when Barack Obama spoke of bitter people from small towns who cling to God and their guns that he was not just simply being derisive?
Is it possible that pointing out that Barack Obama sat in a Church for years listening to a lunatic pontificate, "Not God Bless America... God D___ America" WAS relevant after all? .

DC Protest Warrior: This Is Bad...Very Bad#links

Enemy Mine

We have met the enemy and we be dem, at least according to OhhDaddy and the eFFbEEeYE.

According to the Northeast Intelligence Network, FBI and DHS spied on and monitored the organizers of the 15 April Tea Parties beginning on or about 25 March 2009.

If you were one of the estimated 750,000 Americans who attended one of about 600 TEA parties last week, you might have seen media cameras covering the event. Media cameras, however, were not the only cameras taking video at these events, something that has at least one current FBI agent concerned over the future of America. According to this agent - the same agent who provided the Northeast Intelligence Network (NEIN) exclusively the unreleased photographs of the 11 missing Egyptian students who were the subject of a FBI BOLO in August 2006–placed his concerns for true patriots of the U.S. over his own career when he confided that covert surveillance was “planned and performed” at each of the TEA parties that took place last Tuesday.“Listen to what I am saying,” stated the source during an interview with Doug Hagmann, founder (NEIN).

“The Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Assessment that is receiving so much attention is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the true patriotic citizens of this country are on the Titanic. This is what bothers me. But is goes far beyond that assessment. There have been very significant changes made over the last few years that redirect the focus and assets of the intelligence community internally. These changes have greatly accelerated under this administration, and the threats have been redefined to include those who used to be patriots. It’s not only chilling but absolutely insulting to God-fearing Americans.”

According to this unimpeachable source, a single-page confidential directive issued by the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC (FBIHQ) was sent to each of the 56 field offices located across the United States on or about March 23, 2009, instructing the Special Agents in Charge (SACs) of those offices to verify the date, time and location of each TEA Party within their region and supply that information to FBI headquarters in Washington. The source stated this correspondence termed the TEA parties “political demonstrations,” and added that the dissemination of the directive was very tightly controlled. “Not all agents were privy to this correspondence,” stated the source, who compared the dissemination to an older “Do Not File” classification.

In addition to obtaining or confirming the location and time of each “demonstration,” each field office was instructed to obtain or confirm the identity of the individual(s) involved in the actual planning and coordination of the event in each specific region, and include the local or regional Internet web site address, if any. The information collected by region was then reportedly sent to FBI Headquarters. The source alleges that a second directive was issued on or about April 6, 2009 that reportedly instructed each SAC to coordinate and conduct, either at the field office level and/or with the appropriate resident agency, covert video surveillance and data collection of the participants of the TEA parties. Surveillance was to be performed from “discreet fixed or mobile positions” and was to be performed “independently and outside of the purview of local law enforcement.”

Although the level of detail collected from each operation is unclear, the information was reportedly submitted to Washington, where, “at the level of the National Security Branch (NSB), this information was to “include the office of the Directorate of Intelligence (DI), and integrated with a restricted access database, one that reportedly is accessible to only two agencies” [of the 14 agencies that comprise the U.S. intelligence community, according to the source.“The implications to the citizens of the U.S. are ominous. It seems that there is a hostile political agenda coming from Washington that characterizes the supporters of our constitutional freedoms as threats to our domestic security, which is totally absurd. The redirection, the refocusing of domestic threats from al Qaeda cells to ‘flag waving right-wingers’ is something that has gone from a murmur a few years ago to a roar today.”

Training government-issued cameras on ordinary citizens, many of whom brought their children to an estimated 600 Tax Day TEA Parties is a page torn out of George Orwell’s 1984 and makes the term “God Bless America” more meaningful than ever.

The Northeast Intelligence Network and Canada Free Press expect the government’s denial of the surveillance of the TEA Parties to go viral as soon as this story is posted.

Kilgore's endorsement is supposed to HELP?

Failed candidate Jerry Kilgore has endorsed John Brownlee for AG and will be his campaign manager.

Now, Mr. Brownlee may be an excellent candidate. Personally, I have not made a decision on whom to support.

But, after seeing how Kilgore ran his own campaign, does Mr. Brownlee actually think that this is a good idea?

Mr. Brownlee asks for supports from conservatives. Mr. Kilgore's campaign, in many cases, rejected the views of conservatives, primarily 2nd Amendment supporters. Will Mr. Kilgore make make the same mistake twice?

Good luck to Mr. Brownlee.

Sunday 19 April is Patriots Day

and Mark Alexander, one of the smartest individuals I've read to date, has some insight. I've excerpted some salient paragraphs, but you really should just make the jump and read the whole thing.

From the Patriot Post:

Right-Wing Extremists
By Mark Alexander

My fellow Patriot "right-wing extremists" (or as Barack Obama prefers to describe you, those "bitterly clinging to guns or religion"), it is no small irony that, in the same week the central government demands payment of any income tax they hadn't already withheld (read: "pilfered") from our paychecks for redistribution, we observe Patriots Day.

April 19th marks the 234th anniversary of the early morning ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes to Concord, Massachusetts, in order to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams that British troops were coming to arrest them and seize their weapons. Revere was captured but Dawes and Samuel Prescott, who had joined them along the way, escaped and continued toward Concord. Dawes later fell from his horse, but Prescott, who knew the area well enough to navigate at night, made it to Concord in time to warn the Sons of Liberty.

Protests had been taking place since 1765 over increased taxation and other indignities, resulting most notably in the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773, when colonists boarded three ships in Boston Harbor and threw English tea overboard. The grievances against the imperial authorities were many, but they found their voice in one familiar phrase: "No taxation without representation."

In the early dawn of April 19th, Captain John Parker, commander of the militiamen at Lexington, ordered, "Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they want a war let it begin here." And it did -- American Minutemen fired the "shot heard round the world," as immortalized by Ralph Waldo Emerson, confronting the British on Lexington Green and at Concord's Old North Bridge.

A year later, American Patriots formalized their grievances in the Declaration of Independence, and some 3 percent of the colonists took up arms to battle the well equipped British regulars for almost eight years, until victory was won.

In 1787, our Patriot founders codified a Constitution of Government for their hard-won republic. For almost 150 years, our Constitution stood true to its original intent, just as our Founders, and more important, "the people," had willed it. But
constitutional rule of law suffered repeated humiliation during the Great Depression, as FDR used the economic crisis as cover to implement "change," ostensibly at the behest of "hope."

The result was a "Living Constitution" for a Dying Republic.

In the 1930s, FDR launched myriad socialist programs and redefined the role of the central government. He proposed to pay for his folly through excess taxation, proclaiming, "Here is my principle: Taxes shall be levied according to ability to pay. That is the only American principle." (Of course, that wasn't an "American principle," but a paraphrase of Karl Marx's Communist maxim, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.")

As more Patriots across the nation take a lesson from our Founders, and make the leap from tactical skirmishes to a unified strategic front, protests will become far more focused and effective.

If I might make a humble suggestion, insisting on the restoration of constitutional rule of law is a worthy unified strategic objective.

While most of my colleagues at the nation's premier think tank, The Heritage Foundation, have yet to be profiled by DHS as anarchists, their organization has done precisely what I believe every Patriot should do.

Though Heritage will remain on the front lines of the war of ideas, producing some of the best policy analysis available anywhere, they are renewing their strategic emphasis on "First Principles."

Their revised statement of purpose notes: "We face an education system that upholds mediocrity in the name of relativism; an ever-expanding and centralized government, unmoored from constitutional limits; judges openly making laws and shaping society based on pop-philosophy rather than serious jurisprudence; and growing confusion over America's legitimate role in the world, made all the more apparent by the fundamental threat posed by radical Islamists. At the root of all these problems is a pervasive doubt about the core principles that define America and ought to inform our politics and policy."

From the WST Richmond Team

and I'm going to shamelessly purloin this missive and post it as a question to all elected officials.

Will you publicly CONDEMN the recently-released "assessment" from the Department of Homeland Security warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," labeling citizens opposed to new firearms restrictions, returning veterans and conservatives as "rightwing extremists" and associating them with white supremacists and violent antigovernment groups.

We have some questions and we are entitled to answers:
1. Who is funding this kind of nonsense?
2. Did YOU vote for this?
3. Why would my government spend my money attacking ME, instead of spending my money PROTECTING me?

This report is an insult to military veterans and American gun owners, and as a Member of the U.S. Congress, I would like to see you and your colleagues TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY to condemn this report, and to demand its retraction by DHS.

Specifically, the following questions should be addressed:
1- Who asked for the production of this document?
2- What was the product description?
3- What were the sources used to prepare this document?
4- What were the competing hypothesis in doing the analysis?

Words and actions have consequences, and irresponsible statements, reports and actions fuel fires that are counterproductive to democracy in America.

Do the RIGHT thing -- publicly CONDEMN the DHS document, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment."
Thank you.
