On the May 26 broadcast of the Sunday show, Durbin told host Chris Wallace that he wasn't sure if bloggers or "someone who is Tweeting" should be given protections under a media shield law.

DICK "guards at Gitmo same as Gestapo" Durbin the Turban, doesn't know if bloggers and people using Twitter have the right of free speech? The 1st Amendment is very specific on this issue DICK: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Perhaps DICK should enroll in some remedial reading classes or maybe a basic course in understanding the English language would be in order.

IIRC the old Soviet Union, the USSR, made it illegal to speak out against the ruling class. We all know where that wound up. You think it can't happen here?

What we have had for four years now is a corrupt media working hand-in-hand with the Obama White House to cover up and downplay every kind of bad news. But it's probably is safe to say that in final days of Bush's reelection bid, had America suffered its worst airpower loss since Vietnam and an ambassador been assassinated due to unforgivable U.S. security failures, the media would've made damn sure the American people knew exactly what happened.

With results that are tragic in both the global and personal sense, an American president's foreign policy is collapsing all around us, and the only stories the American media will tell are those that will help drag him over the November finish line.

The Democratic National Committee has released a web ad purporting to show Gov. Mitt Romney in 2008 advocating for an individual mandate at the federal level. This would, of course, be a devastating "smoking gun" proving that Romney had explicitly endorsed and even campaigned on "ObamaCare" before it was an unconstitutional glimmer in Barack Obama's eye.

The problem with the video the DNC has released (and which has been picked up by their reliable minions including Ezra Klein at the Washington Post, Huffington Post, and Talking Points Memo) is that the excerpt from a Jan 5, 2008 New Hampshire debate is selectively edited and does not include an exculpatory moment one minute later where Gov. Romney clearly and unequivocally states he would NOT be in favor of an individual mandate at the federal level.

The DNC's video is misleading and dishonest since it does not include Gov. Romney's clear refusal to call for a national mandate, and the CNN/Acosta video is vague and can be interpreted in various ways.

Is the selectively edited DNC video the blockbuster tape that Begala promised CNN's audience? Or does he have something else hidden away? And, since he is a paid analyst for CNN, shouldn't the network press him on this issue, as it is their public responsibility to seek the truth rather than enable their employees to use their airwaves for political brinkmanship?

A new High Definition clip from the same video appears to make clear that Zimmerman had a gash, or wound of some kind on the back of his head. That would be totally consistent with his version of events on the night in question and opposite the impression ABC News gave its viewers.

Big Journalism called the ABC video-based report reckless and revealing of nothing after it first aired. ABC's presumed ability to enhance and review video before airing only makes their report all the more outrageous. Given analysis by Breitbart Media and the Daily Caller already performed, the ABC video appeared to be inconclusive, at best.

The new High Defintion clip from the police video Breitbart TV is releasing, see below, makes any determination beyond the video being inconclusive is shoddy, if not intentionally unethical, Journalism - if not deceptive and misleading Journalism. To date, ABC has offered no official response to the broad and convincing criticism of the disingenuous nature of their aired report.

Where Is the Media On the Robocall Scandal?

Earlier today Toby Harnden with the Daily Mail Tweeted me this update to the massive robocall scandal, perhaps one of the biggest criminal robocall enterprise in election history. My thought was that even the British media is covering this story. The British, not our own.

Only a few news outlets thus far (most notably in Cleveland) have covered the story and the RNC hasn't even registered a response. Writes Mike Flynn:And now it appears the illegal robocalls are back. BigGovernment has learned that voters in at least 5 states received the illegal calls yesterday; California, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. The calls themselves are silly. They try to tie GOP House members to Rush Limbaugh and the media-created 'war on women's health' narrative. What isn't silly, however, is the deliberate violation of federal law by some national political operation. The brazenness of continuing the calls even after media scrutiny does not bode well for the integrity of the Fall elections. If some organization is willing to blatantly violate the law in March, what will they be prepared to do in October? What's perhaps more troubling, however, is the non-reaction from the GOP. Neither the hapless NRCC, whose members are targeted by the phone calls, nor the RNC have pushed back on the illegal calls. Neither have pushed for any kind of investigation or public scrutiny.

Illinois's Pat Brady is the only Republican speaking out:

A top Republican official has accused Democrats of being behind a fresh wave of illegal robocalls made to voters across the country by a shadowy group calling itself 'The Women of the 99 Percent'. Pat Brady, Republican party chairman in Illinois, issued a statement to MailOnline demanding a state investigation into the calls, first reported by MailOnline on March 9th. Voters in five districts in his state received more automated telephone calls yesterday linking Republican members of the House of Representatives to the conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

The automated calls are illegal because they do not state who they are from (there is no known group called The Women of the 99 Percent) or provide a callback number, as required under the US Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991.

'It is typical that a Democrat front group like this thumbs their noses at the same federal campaign finance laws they like to tout in their own campaign literature,' Brady said. He added that it was 'no coincidence' that the districts receiving the calls were all on 'the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) hit list', he demanding an immediate inquiry.

The organized effort is blatantly illegal yet there's been no investigation or even identification of the group responsible. Media will write reams about the Koch Brothers, but who's funding this egregiously expensive operation and why isn't it headline news?

The soldiers have been pinned down in a muddy mound, the thorny weeds cutting through skin. They recover soon enough, however, manoeuvring away from the Taliban's crosshairs and driving them away with heavy machine-gun fire.

"I pray in the morning and at night, hoping that someone up there is looking after me," says Lance Corporal Justin Blancas, serving with the Marines 1st Battalion, 6th Regiment Alpha Company's 2nd Platoon.

"I have already made my peace with God because this war is different, it's not conventional," the 23-year-old bespectacled Chicago native says.

"These Taliban have learned their lesson. They adapt as fast as we do, but we are bound by our strict rules. They are not," he adds, panting after a 100-metre dash for cover behind an abandoned mud house.

Virginia Republicans have to sell the sizzle.

The Republican party is in turmoil. So-called moderate, liberal, and conservative Republicans are fighting over the proper way to fight the Democrats/progressives on a national level. However, I feel that the campaign to defeat the progressives on the national level is lost, at least in the short term.

And the war will be lost, if the GOP continues as it has over the last few months. The GOP continues to fight the LAST war. It continues to fight on the terrain of the Democrats. It is accepting the premises put out by the left, and therefore, is on defense. No war has EVER been won by a force defending itself......

There is still hope on the local and state level. But only if McDonnell, Bolling, and the AG candidate can change the strategy of the past.

Republicans of all flavors have accepted the premises of the left and the stereotypes of the Republicans presented by the left for so long that the GOP seems afraid to go on the attack. The GOP refuses to challenge the very basis of the progressives' plans instead of just denying them policy successes. The Left has marketed the product that they sell much more successfully. All sales are emotional. And most Americans do not pay attention to issues.

United Conservatives of Virginia posted about the failure of the GOP to "sell the product" back in February. Now the Republicans seem to want to water down their product even more? Republicans CANNOT win by denigrating Democrats. They will only win by putting out a more attractive product.

Social issues MUST be framed in the principles of freedom and liberty, not governmental interference. Conservative economic principles MUST demonstrate how liberty and the free market will benefit the populace. The mantra of "lower taxes" is a losing battle cry. 40% of Americans pay little or no taxes. Show how a more sensible tax plan benefits ALL Americans, don't agree to "targeted tax cuts."

Republicans have to sell the "sizzle" of freedom instead of the "meat" of the conservative principles behind it.

How many times have you seen a trailer that looked awesome, only to find the film to be lame? Most of the time the best parts of the movie are in the trailer. While domestically, we rarely see the blatant trickery demonstrated by the overseas vendors, we are occasionally subjected to marketing elements that don’t match the final product.

Politics today is very similar to Hollywood. We have a President known more for his wife’s fashion and his great speeches than any policy achievements. After all, do you call someone lost without their script (i.e. teleprompter) anything but an actor? It’s all style and no substance. People pick politicians like they pick movies, based on the short version, the “trailer,” and not on the substance of the actual individual. It’s an emotional decision, based on immediate needs and not on actual principles.

And this, my friends, is where the conservative movement has lost the battle.

Conservatism is all about freedom. That’s the sales pitch. Conservatives endorse freedom. We are the modern day rebels. We are the punk rockers of politics. We like to work hard and party harder. The government is “The Man.” “The Man” tries to hold you down. Anybody who wants the “safety net” of cradle to the grave government support should be ridiculed. And rightfully so.

The GOP needs to change its image, NOT its ideals and principles. How does the GOP attract more people to its ideals, NOT how does the GOP changes its ideals to attract more people.

The feud between the branches of the GOP must end. Mr. Scott said it best:

The core values of the movement can be different from the marketing campaign. That’s the smart way to do it. It’s how the Democrats took over the government and it’s our only hope at taking it back.
