So what’s the problem? The problem is that you can accept all the basic tenets of greenhouse physics and still conclude that the threat of a dangerously large warming is so improbable as to be negligible, while the threat of real harm from climate-mitigation policies is already so high as to be worrying, that the cure is proving far worse than the disease is ever likely to be. Or as I put it once, we may be putting a tourniquet round our necks to stop a nosebleed.

And then, there's this masterful smack down after wiping out the "hockey stick."

For, apart from the hockey stick, there is no evidence that climate is changing dangerously or faster than in the past, when it changed naturally.

It was warmer in the Middle ages* and medieval climate change in Greenland was much faster.

Stalagmites*, tree lines and ice cores all confirm that it was significantly warmer 7000 years ago. Evidence from Greenland suggests that the Arctic ocean was probably ice free for part of the late summer at that time.

Sea level* is rising at the unthreatening rate about a foot per century and decelerating.

Greenland is losing ice at the rate of about 150 gigatonnes a year, which is 0.6% per century.

There has been no significant warming in Antarctica*, with the exception of the peninsula.

Methane* has largely stopped increasing.

Tropical storm* intensity and frequency have gone down, not up, in the last 20 years.

Your probability* of dying as a result of a drought, a flood or a storm is 98% lower globally than it was in the 1920s.

Malaria* has retreated not expanded as the world has warmed.

And so on. I’ve looked and looked but I cannot find one piece of data – as opposed to a model – that shows either unprecedented change or change is that is anywhere close to causing real harm.

And finally, a bit about why many, even those that believe the earth is warming, cannot stand the global warming hoaxers. Bolding is mine.

Does it matter? Suppose I am right that much of what passes for mainstream climate science is now infested with pseudoscience, buttressed by a bad case of confirmation bias, reliant on wishful thinking, given a free pass by biased reporting and dogmatically intolerant of dissent. So what?

After all there’s pseudoscience and confirmation bias among the climate heretics too.

Well here’s why it matters. The alarmists have been handed power over our lives; the heretics have not.

No Global warming

In light of Professor Phil Jones admission that there has been no statistical warming for 15 years,
the global warming hoax is finally falling apart. Other scientists that disagreed with the "settled science" are getting exposure.

Of course, the fact that the Earth is not warming due to AGW is not going to stop the meddlers from trying to control us. The EPA and Obama's administration is still on track to regulate CO2.

The AGW proponents, of course, complain that this means nothing, that the actual science is too complex and is settled. They still continue to promote the canard of CO2 as a "greenhouse gas."

"Computer-simulated results based on climate models are never a replacement for actual measured data, and they should never be used to draw conclusions when actual measured data contradicts those models. So the results of three different peer-reviewed papers show that over a period of 36 years, there is no reduction of OLR emissions in wavelengths that CO2 absorb. Therefore, the AGW hypothesis is disproven. "

The commenter goodspkr puts it succintly:

So we know that with examples of petty jealousy, poor record keeping, conspiracies against non-conforming scientists, the use of non-peer reviewed material in the IPCC report, conflicts of interest, and just simply poor science, the AGW industry suddenly found itself in the role it sought to put skeptics in, that is, defending itself from charges of bad science and bad motives. And now you add to this proof that AGW caused by CO2 isn't happening. Talk about kicking someone when they are down!!!

Now, comes another scandal. We "deniers" have always claimed that climate projections based on computer models are junk. Well, here is evidence that we are correct.

Peter Landesman at American Thinker:

The forecasts of global warming are based on mathematical solutions for equations of weather models. But all of these solutions are inaccurate. Therefore, no valid scientific conclusions can be made concerning global warming. The false claim for the effectiveness of mathematics is an unreported scandal at least as important as the recent climate data fraud.

His summation puts the problem in words that even politicians can understand.

As an expert in the solutions of non-linear differential equations, I can attest to the fact that the more than two-dozen non-linear differential equations in weather models are too difficult for humans to have any idea how to solve accurately. No approximation over long time periods has any chance of accurately predicting global warming. Yet approximation is exactly what the global warming advocates are doing. Each of the more than thirty models being used around the world to predict the weather is just a different inaccurate approximation of the weather equations. (Of course, this is an issue only if the model of the weather is correct. It is probably not, because the climatologists probably do not understand all of the physical processes determining the weather.)

Of course, the AGW fanatics won't let facts get in the way of their politics......

Consensus: Global Warming Is Not Man-Made

And by consensus, I mean a consensus among the American people:

There has been a sharp decline over the past year in the percentage of Americans who say there is solid evidence that global temperatures are rising. And fewer also see global warming as a very serious problem – 35% say that today, down from 44% in April 2008.

The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Sept. 30-Oct. 4 among 1,500 adults reached on cell phones and landlines, finds that 57% think there is solid evidence that the average temperature on earth has been getting warmer over the past few decades. In April 2008, 71% said there was solid evidence of rising global temperatures.

Over the same period, there has been a comparable decline in the proportion of Americans who say global temperatures are rising as a result of human activity, such as burning fossil fuels. Just 36% say that currently, down from 47% last year.

"The problem is," Obama said about global warming in January 2008, "can you get the American people to say this is really important and force their representatives
to do the right thing?"

We now have a pretty clear answer to that question.

Navajo and Hopi nations fight the environmentalists

Remember him? Remember how the American Indian was the symbol for a cleaner America? Remember how the commercials couldn't use a "real" Indian? Granted, the commercials helped clean up the trash, but, now the environmentalists are going after the Indian reservations.

Now its a war over coal. Instead of living in an fantasy world, the Navajo and Hopi live in the real world. The Navajo and Hopi nations are fighting with environmentalists because they mine (gasp!) coal. Amazing what the bottom line and making a living does.

Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. and Hopi lawmakers say environmentalists' efforts could hurt the tribes' struggling economies by slowing or stopping coal mining.

Shirley said Wednesday that he will stand in solidarity with the Hopi Tribe, and joined Hopi lawmakers in encouraging other tribes to re-evaluate their relationships with environmentalists.

"Environmentalists are good at identifying problems but poor at identifying feasible solutions," Shirley said in a news release. "Most often they don't try to work with us but against us, giving aid and comfort to those opposed to the sovereign decision-making of tribes."

Of course they are against uranium mining. For purely environmental reasons, of course. Nuclear plants don't compete with coal fired plants, no, not at all.

Global warming is settled science. Everything about it is proven. Just ask them.

Imagine you are a climate researcher who has been assembling the data that is used to support claims of global warming. Or imagine you are Phil Jones from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia. Or imagine you are a scientific fraud. Did I write “or”? I meant “and.”

Over at RedState, "BeagleScout" Miller begins his post with the above statement. Its also a summary of the entire thing. Quite a feat summarizing the entire post in your opening paragraph.

Apparently, scientific theories are supposed to be "repeatable" or, at least, "reviewed" by other scientists, using the ORIGINAL data.....who knew?

Over at Watts Up With That, Patrick J. Michaels, of National Review Online, exposes the fraud inherent in the entire global warming theory, in the article, The Dog Ate Global Warming.

The original "scientists" admit to throwing away the ORIGINAL data. And kept only their doctored data. Except when they have it, but refuse to provide it for review.....
Of course the sources for that data have huge problems, also.....

...the weather data that go into the historical climate records that are required to verify models of global warming aren’t the original records at all. Jones and Wigley, however, weren’t specific about what was done to which station in order to produce their record, which, according to the IPCC, showed a warming of 0.6° +/– 0.2°C in the 20th century.

Now begins the fun. Warwick Hughes, an Australian scientist, wondered where that “+/–” came from, so he politely wrote Phil Jones in early 2005, asking for the original data. Jones’s response to a fellow scientist attempting to replicate his work was, “We have 25 years or so invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it?”

Reread that statement, for it is breathtaking in its anti-scientific thrust. In fact, the entire purpose of replication is to “try and find something wrong.”

Make sure that you read the comment section of the above post. Very, very enlightening about the actual status of climatology....

There is no evidence for CO2 based global warming.

Let’s break down the case for human-caused global warming logically:

1) There is plenty of evidence that global warming has been occurring recently.
2) There is ample evidence that carbon emissions causes warming and that the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide is increasing.
3) But there is no evidence that carbon dioxide emissions are the main cause of the recent global warming.

The alarmists focus you entirely on the first two points, to distract you from the third.

Climatologist slams warming myths.

Climatologist Dr. Roger Pielke Sr. publicly rebuked the website in a June 30, 2009 article for “erroneously communicating the reality of the how the climate system is actually behaving.”

In his article titled “Real Climate’s Misinformation”, Pielke also chastised readers of Real Climate for blindly accepting the incorrect climate claims promoted on the site. “Media and policymakers who blindly accept these claims are either naive or are deliberately slanting the science to promote their particular advocacy position,...”

For a comparison, a pretty good bill called the U.S. Constitution originally had four pages and it allowed a great country to work well for 230+ years. Those four pages are somewhat less than 1500+ pages whose only purpose is to allow one particular green tumor to thrive for a few years, before it dies of hunger.

NO Congressman read this bill. They continue to pass bills that they are not reading and expect us to know what the law is. Ignorance of the law is supposed to be no excuse. Every single one of these bastards need to be kicked out of office. Every single one of the bastards that sponsored this, supported this, or voted for this should be impeached for malfeasance.

I think that I'm going to need a lot of that tape to wrap around my head.

First, the entire bill is based on a false premise of confirmed man-made global warming. Not only has no global warming been confirmed to be man-made, THE PLANET IS COOLING!

Second, no one read this bill. 300 pages were snuck in at 3 am. And there is an unconstitutional “place holder” mentioned so that they can add more after the vote. (Khrys at Michelle Malkin.com: The GOP should explore bringing suit with the aim of declaring “placeholder provisions” make the whole bill unconstitutional. If Line Item Veto is unconstitutional, Line Item Insert sure as heck is too.)

Third, the entire premise of “cap and trade” is a proven failure. Look at Europe and Kyoto. China and India have already spoken. They are NOT going to kill THEIR economies.

Fourth, Spain is bewildered that we are following a similar plan for green jobs as theirs. Their plan failed miserably.

This bill will do nothing but hurt our economy. NOTHING will be gained, except that Al Gore’s wallet will get fatter. He owns a “carbon credit” company. Where are all the critics of Enron? This was an idea pushed by those thieves.

Reports say that the switchboards were overloaded with citizens demanding a NO vote. Including Democrats. This government is out of control. This is the greatest tax hike for the US in history. And, apparently, we don't have any representation.

Ironic that its so close to July 4th.
