Negroes with guns - HUMAN EVENTS

Remember it was Bull Connor, a Democrat, who turned the dogs and hoses on the Freedom Riders.

Negroes with guns - HUMAN EVENTS

We don't know the facts yet, but let's assume the conclusion MSNBC is leaping to is accurate: George Zimmerman stalked a small black child and murdered him in cold blood, just because he was black.

If that were true, every black person in America should get a gun and join the National Rifle Association, America's oldest and most august civil rights organization.

Apparently this has occurred to no one because our excellent public education system ensures that no American under the age of 60 has the slightest notion of this country's history.

Gun control laws were originally promulgated by Democrats to keep guns out of the hands of blacks. This allowed the Democratic policy of slavery to proceed with fewer bumps and, after the Civil War, allowed the Democratic Ku Klux Klan to menace and murder black Americans with little resistance.

/snip

In the preface to "Negroes With Guns," ...the great civil rights hero Robert F. Williams [A] World War II Marine veteran, writes: "I have asserted the right of Negroes to meet the violence of the Ku Klux Klan by armed self-defense -- and have acted on it. It has always been an accepted right of Americans, as the history of our Western states proves, that where the law is unable, or unwilling, to enforce order, the citizens can, and must act in self-defense against lawless violence."

Contrary to MSNBC hosts, I do not believe the shooting in Florida is evidence of a resurgent KKK. But wherever the truth lies in that case, gun control is always a scheme of the powerful to deprive the powerless of the right to self-defense.

Thats Why We Voted For Him

HUMAN EVENTS had the opportunity to sit down with Gov. Robert McDonnell of Virginia for an exclusive interview at his Richmond office to discuss how he inherited two budget shortfalls in the billions, but maneuvered his way to producing a budget … surplus!

And revenues to the government increased.

And unemployment is hovering at 6%, way below the national average.

Oh, and he did it by not raising taxes.

Basically, Gov. McDonnell is a walking refutation of the liberal notion that spending and borrowing create wealth.

“You have to make those tough cuts, endure political criticism, knowing that in the long run your state is going to be healthier,” McDonnell told us. “I realize that government doesn’t create jobs, and the ones that they do they are not really the ones you want. You want the private sector ones, innovative jobs that are long-term going to grow the economy.”

Here’s him telling us how he’s eliminated government agencies, courted business development, and even cut the allegedly untouchable category of education funding.

Muslim Brotherhood-Islamic Supremicists

Is the White House attending meetings with a terrorist organization? The Muslim Brotherhood is a jihad terrorist organization formed in 1928 to implement sharia law and establish Islamic domination worldwide—with a special focus on the United States as the leader of the free world. According to these jihadis, we’re the Big Satan. Israel is only the Little Satan.

The extensive infiltration of America by the Muslim Brotherhood was unmasked in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial, the largest terrorist funding trial in history. But is anyone paying attention?

Human Events is on the story. The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) boasts “57 state” members, heads of the Islamic countries. The OIC held its "Islam and Muslims in America" conference last week in Chicago where a controversial White House appointee rubbed elbows with Muslim Brotherhood front organizations—including unindicted co-conspirators from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the HLF trial. If you read one story today, read about this infiltration of America in my story here.

Also, over the weekend, Big Labor and Marxist organizations (is that redundant?) marched on Washington. Check out the outrageous stories and more in our Human Events hotlinks just a short scroll down the page! — Connie Hair

10 Things Him Could Have Done, but Chose Not To

Hey Barack, You Should’ve Done This...

President Obama addressed the nation on the Gulf oil spill, and told the American people how he has been doing all he can to “plug the damn hole” and whose behind he might kick.

Since his strategy dealing with the spill seems lacking thus far, Redstate editor Erick Erickson has compiled a Top 10 list of things to alleviate the disaster that Obama could have done but didn’t.

1. Accepted help from the Netherlands when they offered it shortly after the accident. The Dutch, experienced in the oil business, offered prompt help for oil skimming booms and plans to create barriers to stop the oil from infiltrating into wetland areas.

2. Suspended the Jones Act, as President Bush did after Katrina, to allow foreign vessels into American waters to assist with recovery without having to swap ships and transfer equipment onto American flagged vessels.

3. Suspended the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage laws, as President Bush did after Katrina, to allow rapid deployment of new workers to help with containment efforts.

4. Suspended FEMA contracting and bidding rules, as President Bush did after Katrina, to allow a more rapid assignment of contracts to assist with the recovery effort.

5. Allowed coastal governors to immediately begin dredging to create barrier islands.

6. Talked to BP's CEO to establish initial metrics for progress to gauge BP's response so the federal government would have ascertainable metrics to determine when federal intervention was needed. Heck, he should have talked to BP's CEO period.

7. Not imposed a blanket deep water drilling moratorium, further crippling economies in coastal communities.

8. Talked to experts about how to fix the problem instead of trying to figure out whose "ass to kick."

9. Not waited to act lest he be seen as owning the situation. Guess what? He owns it now so why is he still on the golf course?

10. Not have wasted time trying to blame the accident on George Bush before diving in to take responsibility.

PISA-Paper Industry Salvation Act of 2010

Obamacare: Paperwork You Can Believe In
by Deroy Murdock
05/17/2010

NEW YORK -- President Barack Obama promised Americans “health care reform.” So far, “health care form” is more like it.

ObamaCare is devolving into the Paper Industry Salvation Act of 2010. This new law spans 2,562 tree-killing pages. Far worse, it will force Americans to spend countless, irritating hours completing, transmitting, and filing endless reams of federal paperwork.

The scariest news for America’s forests may be a brand-new mandate that will compel each business — from General Electric to the neighborhood handyman — to file an IRS Form 1099 for every business on which it spends at least $600. Form 1099 today applies only to independent contractors, e.g. a graphic artist who earns $1,000 for designing a sales brochure. Come 2012, ObamaCare vastly will expand 1099s to sellers of goods as well as services, and not just the self-employed, but also businesses — large and small.

“This will create a two-fold whammy for small businesses,” predicts Rep. Dan Lungren (R – California) who is sponsoring legislation to repeal this provision. “They will have additional accounting costs that will consume time and money,” Lungren tells me. “They will be required to keep a running tab with every vendor, all the way from restaurants to anything they buy — a piece of equipment, an airline ticket, or a hotel room. And when they reach the $600 threshold, they will be required to file 1099s for each of those vendors.”

SEAL 3-Not An Update; An Observation

SEALs Case Shows How Terrorists Use 'Lawfare' to Undermine U.S.
Human Events ^ March 9, 2010 Clare M. Lopez

The use of our democratic system and the rule of law by those whose intent is to destroy our civilization is a cynical tactic that Americans ought to be smart enough to see straight through.

Islamic jihadis are manipulating Western-style legal systems everywhere to their own benefit while we, the founders of those systems, are floundering in a morass of moral relativism, multicultural meaninglessness, and a deplorable amnesia about the genuine worth of our own heritage, traditions, and values.

The current case in point involves the three Navy SEALs who, as members of Seal Team 10, captured the Iraqi terrorist Ahmed Hashim Abed in September 2009. Abed is charged with directing the March 2004 ambush of four Blackwater security guards in the town of Fallujah in which the four were killed, and their bodies mutilated, burned, and hung from a bridge. Unbelievably, the three heroic Navy SEALs are now being court-martialed because Abed claims that at some point in the capture and interrogation process, they treated him a bit roughly; the charges against the SEALs also allege they made false statements about that treatment.

Flat Tax or Fair Tax - We Need One or the Other

10% Flat Tax across the board. No deductions, no exemptions. Paid quarterly. Everyone pays.
If you want to access the "real cash" flowing daily in America, a 10% National Retail Sales Tax will get anyone who buys stuff. A VAT will only add to the base cost of goods, and will be passed on to the consumer.

Repeal the Sixteenth Amendment
by Paul Moreno
01/14/2010
One hundred years ago, Congress sent a constitutional amendment to the states to permit the federal government to tax incomes. The pressure for an income tax had been building ever since the Supreme Court declared the 1894 income tax unconstitutional -- as a “direct” tax, it had to be apportioned among the states according to population. Such apportionment would defeat the principal aim of the tax’s southern and western Populist proponents, which was to shift the tax burden onto the high-income states of the Northeast.

In 1909, these Populists wanted a corporate income tax as well as a personal income tax. The story goes that the conservative Republicans, led by Sen. Nelson W. Aldrich of Rhode Island, agreed to enact a corporation tax but let a personal income tax depend on the ratification of a constitutional amendment -- one that they were confident the states would not ratify. Aldrich openly stated that he would vote for the corporation tax in order to defeat the income tax.

To the Republicans’ surprise, the states quickly ratified the Sixteenth Amendment, and we have both corporate and personal income taxes.

The income tax, as its opponents a century ago predicted, has become a monstrosity. It has spawned a system of special privileges and penalties as Congress uses it to promote and discourage all sorts of policies that have nothing to do with raising revenue, nothing to do with the Constitution’s grant of power to “collect taxes… to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States.”

The income tax is also the source of our deranged health-insurance system. During World War II, the government prohibited employers from competing for workers via higher wages. Instead, employers began to offer health insurance as a tax-deductible fringe benefit.

The ridiculously arcane tax code has spawned entire industries, costing billions of dollars, in which individuals and businesses lobby for exemptions, try to exploit loopholes, or simply struggle to comply with the code. The system is so ridiculously complex that the Secretary of the Treasury (the chief tax-collector) and the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee (the chief author of the tax law) can claim that they failed to pay their taxes because they didn’t understand the tax code.

Our dysfunctional tax system has led many to advocate a radically simplified “flat tax.” Others call for the abolition of the income tax and adoption of a national sales or “value-added” tax (VAT). Conservatives dislike the VAT idea because, as an indirect and hidden tax, it makes it much easier for the government to raise taxes. Liberals dislike the VAT because it is regressive, taxing everyone’s consumption equally, rather than falling more heavily on the rich.

The problem is that, like Nelson Aldrich, we will end up with both an income tax and a VAT. Indeed, that could happen even if we did repeal the Sixteenth Amendment. A good argument can be made that the amendment was unnecessary, because Congress had always had the power to tax incomes, and it was the Supreme Court that got it wrong when it struck down the 1894 income tax. The federal government had collected an income tax during the Civil War, which the Supreme Court upheld (at least with regard to professional earnings) in 1881.

So, to be really certain, we need to amend the Constitution in such a way as to prohibit income taxation.

Arrogance Has Its Own Payback

Family Research Council

Waiting On Mr Write

"Americans resent being ignored by arrogant politicians who think they know better how to run our lives than we do," columnist Connie Hair wrote on the Human Events website. As it turns out, even politicians resent being ignored by other arrogant politicians. Last month, eight Democrats sent the Majority Leader a formal letter demanding that the Senate--and public--have access to the bill for at least 72 hours prior to its first vote. Initially, Sen. Reid agreed.

Out-takes From Ann Coulter's Column

Another funny smart, hot conservative Lady.
(Isn't it obvious by now? Any philosophy or ideology embraced and promoted by women like Ann Coluter, Mary Katharine Ham, Monica Crowley, Andrea Tantaros, Gretchen Carlson, and Susan Katz Keating, or Pam Geller, can't be wrong. We are definitely on the right side. Of course, it could just be a Marine thing.)

Natural Born Losers

Liberals sneered at Bush's description of Iraq as the "central front of the war on terror" and a step toward the "democratization of the Middle East" -- as Mark Danner did in the Sept. 11, 2005, New York Times -- because sneering was all they could do. By design, Iraq was the central front in the war on terrorism.

Any fanatic who hated the Great Satan, owned an overnight bag and was not already working for The New York Times was lured across the border into Iraq ... to be met by the awesome force of the U.S. military. Bush chose the battlefield that made the best flytrap for Islamic crazies and also that was most amenable to regime change.

During the campaign, Obama prattled on about Iraq being a "war of choice" and Afghanistan a "war of necessity" for no more thoughtful reason than a desire to win standing ovations from treasonous liberals.

But lo and behold, those very liberals who were champing at the bit to fight in Afghanistan are suddenly full of objections to the war there, too. As Frank Rich points out: "Afghanistan is not Iraq. It is poorer, even larger and more populous, more fragmented and less historically susceptible to foreign intervention."

The difficult choice Obama faces in Afghanistan is entirely of his own making, not his generals' and certainly not Bush's. It was Obama's meaningless blather about Afghanistan being a "war of necessity" during the campaign that has moved the central front in the war on terrorism from Iraq -- a good battleground for the U.S. -- to Afghanistan -- a lousy battlefront for the U.S.

And it was Obama's idea to treat war as if it's an ordinary drug bust, reading suspects their Miranda rights and taking care not to put civilians in harm's way.

A Democrat is president and, once again, America finds itself in an "unwinnable war." I know Democrats will never learn, but I wish the voters would.

Where's our Declaration?

Eleven states have declared Sovereignty.
Where's ours? Oh, right.
We have liberal suck ups as Governor and both Senators.
Thomas Jefferson would be SO proud......

Human Events .com - A.W. R. Hawkins:
(Emphasis mine)
In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states -- "Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, [Minnesota]...Georgia," South Carolina, and Texas -- "have all introduced bills and resolutions" reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limiting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states.

Tidbits From The Internet

Some interesting tidbits from the internet:

First, I have to encourage everyone to go out and buy Tyson Foods products. Seems they had a come to Jesus moment (pun intended; get it? Jesus? Christian? never mind) and have reinstated Labor Day as a holiday. The power of the people is once again demonstrated.

Hand salute to Tyson Foods for stepping up and upholding traditional American values.

Barack HUSSEIN Obamamama's Don't Ask Don't Drill Policy:

From HumanEventsOnline:

Despite his conditional, latter-day support for limited offshore drilling, Obama is the sole sponsor of legislation that would block geological research to locate offshore oil.

In 2005, Congress mandated new, quintennial inventories, then gave Interior six months and $0.00 to assess how much oil and natural gas undergird the 1.76 billion-acre Outer Continental Shelf -- a laughably impossible task.

Obama’s “Oil SENSE Act” would repeal the 2005 Energy Policy Act’s authorization of these inventories. S.115 would leave decision makers with Carter Administration maps drawn with pre-PC technology. This is like engineering a Space Shuttle mission with slide rules.

From FrontPageMagazine:

.....Seven Environmental Catastrophes Liberals Don’t Want You to Know About Because They Helped Cause Them, provides a framework for a detailed examination of the effects of sacred-cow environmental projects such as the ban on DDT and the promotion of ethanol. He also explores the cover-up of the polluting effect of contraceptives and abortion drugs, the failure of ill-advised forestry management policies and the bankruptcy of the endangered species act.

...environmentalists tout the benefits of bio-fuels, but in reality bio-fuel production pulls land out of food crop production, increases food prices, threatens wildlife and ultimately increases greenhouse gas emissions. Bio-fuels do not offer any of the purported benefits touted by environmentalists, he says, who, at bottom, have contempt for the internal combustion engine itself

.....ethanol provides only two-thirds the energy content of gasoline, is expensive to produce and releases more harmful emission amounts than gasoline. Its real costs are hidden by government support, including $5 billion in subsidies, a federal excise forgiveness tax of $.51 per gallon, and an ethanol tariff protection from imports of 2.5%, plus $.54 per gallon. The government requires gasoline producers to buy four billion gallons of ethanol yearly, purchasing support that will increase to 7.5 billion gallons by 2012. Further, ethanol emissions are actually double those of gasoline when its emissions are counted and combined with emissions arising from its transportation via truck rather than pipeline systems and its intensive production requirements – planting, growing, weeding, reaping, fermentation and distribution.
Further, diverting corn production from food production increases the acreage devoted to corn; squeezes out cultivation of soybeans, cotton and barley; and causes upward price pressures on other grains, dairy products, poultry and meat. Ethanol production incentives could also prompt farmers to clear forests which could eliminate animal habitats and lessen air quality with fewer trees to absorb carbon dioxide.

Lies that your Congress tells you. Or why do the Progressives need you fat, dumb, and angry....

Truism: If you repeat a lie long enough, it becomes recognized as the truth.
Truism: If you have no respect for the voter's intelligence, you forget that they can FACT CHECK YOUR ASS!
Truism: Pelosi and Obama are raving, power-hungry empty suits that think the voters are stupid.

Both Pelosi and Obama have spread the lie that the oil companies are leasing 68 million acres and are, apparently, just sitting on them; just spending that money for nothing......

The Demoratic party continues to spread this statistic because they understand that the truth is harmful to the progressive movement. As long as the citizenry are hurting, and private enterprise can be blamed, the progressives can point to more government as the solution. This demand also allows the progressives to put forth ideas that, normally, would be abhorrent to the populace, such as nationalizing the oil companies, taking their profits and giving them to the populace, or nationalizing the refineries. All of these ideas have been put forth by the Progressives in Congress and running for President.

From Greg Feldmeth:

I. Sources of Progressive Reform

    A. Industrialization, with all its increase in productivity and the number of consumer goods, created

      1) Unemployment and labor unrest
      2) Wasteful use of natural resources
      3) Abuses of corporate power

    B. Growing cities magnified problems of poverty, disease, crime, and corruption

    C. Influx of immigrants and rise of new managerial class upset traditional class alignments

    D. Massive depression (1893-1897) convinced many that equal opportunity was out of reach for many Americans.

II. Who Were the Progressives?

A. New middle class composed of young professionals

    1. Sought to apply principles of professions (medicine, law, business, teaching) to problems of society
    2. Strong faith in progress and the ability of educated people to overcome problems
    3. Rise in volunteer organizations organized to address issues (American Bar Association, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Municipal League, eg.)
    4. Mainly urban in residence and orientation
B. Muckraking journalists attacked corruption and scandal with a sense of moral outrage

While Progressivism did address certain problems at the beginning of the 20th century, like most government-centric programs, the movement has outlive its usefulness. The modern Progressive movement depends on statism and autocratic ideas for its very survival.

The Progressives still cite "unemployment and labor unrest" though we are at full employment and membership in labor unions is down, voluntarily. They decry the "problems of poverty, corruption, and crime" as the need for more government controls without the admission that the worst urban areas ALREADY are under Progressive control.

While new immigrants are now the norm and do not "upset the traditional class alignments", the progressives seek to upset the traditional ideas of national sovereignty with allowing unlimited illegal immigration, knowing that the votes would go to them.

We are not in a depression or even a recession. But have you noticed over the last few decades, that whenever the progressives wish to regain power, the economy must be seen to be in a recession, or driven to one with horrible policies that are supposed to "save" us. High gas prices anyone?

The description of the "typical" progressive is accurate. College professors (Woodrow Wilson, our first fascist) comes to mind. Volunteer organizations....."community organizer or activist"....who does that bring to mind?

The ability of "educated people to overcome problems" definitely describes the Obamas and most of Congress. God forbid that the uneducated, unwashed masses actually fix their own problems. Force students into state run schools, force programs that teach to the lowest common denominator, and then, prevent competition even within that small realm, and you won't have citizens that can think critically. And then you won't have citizens to point out the lies, exaggerations, and distortions of history by the governmental classes.

And if you noticed the map of the last election by county, the idea that progressives are urban is obvious. Congressional election maps are very illustrative.

The terms "muckraking" and " journalist" have almost become synonyms. Journalism of today seems to demand continual outrage from its adherents. And all attacks must be towards the "corruption" found in private enterprise. Scandal, as long as it is attributable to any enemy of the press, is trumpeted to the skies. Moral outrage is selective. The press, of course, has always been this way, but at least, in the past, they ADMITTED IT!

The disease of Progressivism and Socialism is deadly to Freedom in both the short term and long term. I include both the Democratic Party and more recently, the Republican party, in the Progressive movement. If government intervention is seen as the only solution, we will ultimately become slaves to the very government that was invented to SAFEGUARD OUR FREEDOMS!

Couple of Things

First, Headquarters Marine Corps has issued a statement regarding the HBO mini-series Generation Kill. It states:

From: Acting Director, Division of Public Affairs, Headquarters Marine Corps
The recent airing of the first episode of HBO's "Generation Kill" has generated numerous inquiries regarding Marine Corps support of the series. The Marine Corps did not provide any official support to the filmmakers. The series is based on the book by the same title by Evan Wright, a former Rolling Stone magazine reporter who was embedded with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion at the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While there are certainly aspects of the film that are accurate, it is at its
heart a commercial production. It's raw and has elements that are very much out of synch with the core values our nation rightly expects of its Marines. Viewed as a whole, in my estimation, it does not accurately portray the honor and professionalism of our Corps of Marines.

Semper Fidelis,
Major David Romley
Director, Community Relations Headquarters,
U.S. Marine Corps

There are some comments at my vox site from someone who has seen the first two episodes.

Second, my friend Matt over at Wolking's World sent me a video today. It was shot in Santa Barbara California back in March, while we were in DC holding the IVAW to a higher standard in their Winter Soldier II hearings. You will not like it. You can view it here or here. Moonbats being stupid.

Third, I got a phone call today from one of my favorite columnists. I was surprised to say the least. She only calls to taunt me with her intelligence and incredible good looks. She refuses to leave her husband and run away with me. Go figure. Anyway, she has a column coming out Tuesday at Human Events regarding the naming of the high school in Texas for EllTee Vandegrift. I know it will be great.

I know I said a couple of things, but this will most likely, probably, in all likelyhood, I hope be the last one:
Kos lied and a rabbit died. See the post for the context. Someone was upset.
Obamamessiah's birth certificate has been proven to be a forgery thanks to some hard work by some dedicated people. Pam Geller at Atlas Shrugs has a post up. It's long, technical and full of graphics, but the bottom line is, the birth certificate posted by the krazies at Kos is a forgery or a fake. In either case, it's not genuine. Now we just need to figure out why. Hmm why would a lunatic left wing extremist website post a birth certificate of a candidate for President knowing it was a forgery?
