Time To Lend A Hand

COOKING WITH THE TROOPS AND BUBBA BURGER JOIN FORCES TO HELP 1140WRVA RAISE MONEY FOR FISHER HOUSE

On Saturday 4 June at the Wal-mart Supercenter in Short Pump, Virginia, CWTT and Bubba Burger will team up to help WRVA reach its goal

CWTT will be cooking Bubba Burgers and burger-brawts
(I had the same reaction. I am assured they are delicious)

The food is free but we will be accepting donations and selling cooking with the troops’ homemade BBQ sauce

Half the money raised will be donated to the Fisher House

Our BBQ sauce is made right here in Virginia, has no Heinz products, and has been described as:

End of Year Giving

This week will be one of the busiest of the year for charitable donations. Individuals and companies wanting or needing a break on taxes will be looking to donate to charities both to do some good and to get that tax break. Companies and organizations that do matching donations make it an even better week for charities.

To that end, I would like you to consider donating to some worthy causes. Check with your employer to see if they will match.

First, I hope you will consider a donation to Cooking with the Troops. We have some news coming out later this week, but one thing I can tell you is that due to a very generous donation, the food for Operation FPH Blues is now fully covered. That said, we are still a long way from our goal of $15,000 and can use your help. Remember that anything not used on the trip will be split between Cooking with the Troops and Pin-Ups for Vets. And, to be very honest, we could use some money just for us to cover some of the remaining start-up expenses and begin gearing up for next year's work.

Remarks to the NASDAQ Exchange by C. Blake Powers, CEO, Cooking with the Troops Inc.

Good Morning!

Cooking with the Troops is a new, small charity with a rich history of success. It is the combination of two efforts, so that we can also provide career transition, homefront support, and frontline support to U.S. and Allied troops, families, and caregivers.

We are proud to stand with other small charities, such as Pin-Ups for Vets, our partner on Operation Fight Post Holiday Blues; with Standing for the Fallen, started by Mark Dolfini to raise money and supplies for Soldiers’ Angels Germany; with small companies such as Baen Books who have donated thousands of books to our troops with little fanfare; and, with projects such as Soldiers’ Angels Valour-IT.
Working together, we accomplish much.

If everyone hearing this today donates $5, we would most likely have Operation Fight Post Holiday Blues fully funded, have money to do our barbecues for the wounded next year, and possibly even more. But I hope you will do something much more important. With your donations, we can do good things. With your investment and partnership, we can do great things.

We can create the entrepreneurial bootcamps and mentoring programs that will help start the new successful small businesses essential for continued economic growth, as well as help people start new careers.

With it, we can create the programs that will teach new generations the joy of cooking and how to do good food fast, and help tight family budgets do more.
Working together, we can leverage what is done to create success on many levels beyond the immediate and obvious good.

Yes, we do want and urgently need your donations, but we want and need your partnership and investment even more. With that, we can provide comfort to many; nutrition of body, spirit, and economy; and, hope for a brighter future for all.

I was actually working today, so I missed a lot of things I usually post.

Two items of a personal nature I'd like to share:

First, I've been asked to sit on the Board of the newly established EaglesUP! 501(c)(3) organization, an honor I have accepted. (Those Jersey girls have a way of talking you into anything.)

Second, I've been asked by none other than Laughing Wolf hisownself to be a member of the core group Cooking With the Wounded, another honor I readily accepted. You don't refuse a member of the team at Blackfive, you just don't. They have things and know stuff.

Sixth, what I see as the main purpose of any government is fairly simple and laid out in the U.S. Constitution. It is not for it to be a nanny, it is not for it to be a parent, and it sure as hell is not in existence to “give” me things I haven’t earned. Governments exist to provide for the common defense and ensure a level playing field.

I would have put that one first, but otherwise......what he said.

TSA handcuffs dangerous man at Seattle Airport

Warrior Legacy Foundation on WRVA

This morning at 0635 I was interviewed on Jimmy Barrett's morning show on WRVA, regarding the efforts of Warrior Legacy Foundation to help returning vets find employment. It was an honor to be able to speak for WLF and the men and women who helped create this great organization and I want to thank WRVA and Jimmy Barrett for allowing me the time to tell Richmond and the listening audience about Warrior Legacy.

WLF is committed to helping our veterans in any way possible. The jobs effort, Cooking for the Wounded (with Soldiers Angels) and the newest program, When They Come Back, We Give Back, are just the tip of the iceberg. We have more programs underway and in development.
