Reasons 7 Thru 10 of "10 Reasons to Oppose Cap and Tax"

7. It prevents market forces from working for the environment:
The market distortions imposed by a cap and trade system would be significant. Recently, major energy companies such as ExxonMobil and Shell have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in technologies that capture and store carbon as well as lower carbon alternative energy sources. A cap and trade system however, sets up perverse incentives that will distract these and other companies from market-based solutions to curb carbon output. Resources instead will be funneled to the artificial market for carbon allowances that cap and trade sets up.

8. It threatens to put the U.S. at a competitive disadvantage with other countries:
Though the E.U. and the United States may be buying into cap and trade, industrial giants like China and India are not. Remember the lost jobs we talked about in point #4? In addition to China and India, nearby Mexico (another country where cap and trade is not even a remote possibility) are more than willing to pick up the U.S. slack and bolster their already robust manufacturing sectors.

9. It opens the door to massive fraud and corruption:

As energy companies look to game the system, cap and trade would open the door wide for fraud and corruption that could devastate U.S. investors and the economy as a whole. This has been seen already in the UK, a country currently participating in cap and trade. In a recent article by the British-based Guardian newspaper they report: “Britain’s biggest polluting companies are abusing a European emission trading scheme (ETS) designed to tackle global warming by cashing in their carbon credits in order to bolster ailing balance sheets.”

In the United States we have seen what happens when companies engage in creative accounting measures to hide losses and the staggering domino effect it can have on Wall Street investors and the larger economy. If you need more proof of this threat, look no further than this report by The Competitive Enterprise Institute that discusses Enron’s support for a cap and trade scheme that would allow them to dominate this new, made-up market for carbon.

10. It threatens to bust the federal budget at a time when the United States can scarcely afford it:
Federal spending continues at a breakneck pace. The recent passage of the trillion-dollar stimulus bill along with even more taxpayer funded bailouts looming on the horizon add to U.S. budget woes and sink us deeper into recession. And as if times weren’t tough enough, the CBO reports that cap and trade would heap additional undue pressure on our fragile budget.

According to their report, government would face the same challenges with higher energy costs that consumers do. Additionally, the fall in production for U.S. industry would lead to a loss of federal government tax revenues. Further increasing spending while decreasing revenues makes cap and trade a tough sell in the current economic climate.

The Dhimmicrats.

Should All Be Charged With Dereliction of Duty
and failure to comply with their sworn oaths to uphold the Constitution of the United States if they voted for, or in any manner promoted, this monstrosity of a stimulus bill.
or as I prefer to call it, the
Bill to End Democracy and Implement Socialism in My Lifetime.
Anyone who claims to have the interests of the citizen in mind and still voted for or spoke in favor of this bill, is lying through their teeth.
Marxists Never Apologize for being Crude, Crass, Boorish and Tasteless
or as they like to think of it
SUPERIOR
So don't look for an apology for the way our cousins were treated when that idiot of a state department spokesperson said that Great Britain was no different than any of the other 197 nations in the UN.

To my distant relatives and all Britons, especially the Britons serving side by side with our troops, please accept this Southern rednecks' most sincere and abject apology for not shooting that imbecile for being crass, extremely tasteless and just plain stupid.

Veterans Dissed in Porkulus Bill

Every day we find out just how little the dhimmicrats regard our military.

VETERANS ARE LOW PRIORITY IN STIMULUS PACKAGE
ACORN among Organizations Receiving More
Washington, D.C. -
Today, Congressman Steve Buyer of Indiana, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, issued the following statement after the final text of the economic stimulus package was unveiled lastnight.

"Of the numerous flaws in the large economic recovery spending bill, none is more shameful than the obvious disregard it holds for veterans, Buyer said.

I find it appalling that this bill provides access to $2 billion for ACORN, $30 million for the salt-marsh harvest mouse in the San Francisco Bay area, and millions to purchase Œgreen golf carts, instead of bettering the lives of veterans. I hope everyone will pause to consider that those who have put their lives on the line to defend our right to vote are a lower priority than an organization like ACORN, which has been accused of unlawful voter registration. I dont know of a starker example of the Democrats misplaced priorities.

While pleased my request for $1 billion was adopted to accelerate construction projects in the Veterans Health Administration, I am disappointed my proposals to add $1 billion for VA loan guarantees to veteran-owned small businesses, $357 million to increase training and job placement, and $10 million for homeless women veterans and veterans with children was not included. These proposals would have helped veterans and our economy.

It appears the Democrat leadership was more interested in special projects than pro-growth economic policies that create and sustain jobs. These are distinct policy differences for which our economy will suffer, and Americans will pay the price.

I also do not understand how more than $100 million for non-citizen, non-resident, Filipino Veterans of World War II will help stimulate the U.S.economy. I hope Americans will stop to ponder the distorted values of those who crafted this bill"

65 million +/- so-called Americans voted to change the staus quo. Now the socialists are in charge for real. I hope you're happy with the outcome.

American taxpayers buy pig in poke. No peeking allowed.

House Passes Democratic Power Theft Bill

"The bill was passed 246-183 with no Republican help. It now goes to the Senate where a vote was possible late Friday to meet a deadline of passing the plan before a recess begins next week.

All but seven Democrats voted for the bill—a 1,071 page, 8-inch-thick measure..."(Good for them. THEY have some backbone.)

So, does anyone else see the disconnect from reality between these two items? Apparently, Queen Pelosi has a plane to catch so it was important for this to be voted on, sight unseen.

SHORT OPEN LETTER TO THE REPUBLICANS

Dear Senate and House Republicans,

As the Great President Reagan said, years ago, when speaking about addicting drugs, (and if money is not that, what is?)

JUST SAY NO!

You can't "FIX" a bill that should not exist in the first place. If the Democrats want to waste a trillion dollars, LET THEM DO IT WITHOUT YOU! No matter how you twist it, this bill WILL NOT do anything but increase the power of Democrats all over the US without helping America!

And Republican that votes for this travesty deserves to lose in the upcoming elections. Any of you.

If the last election did not open you eyes, maybe the next one will. Grow a backbone.

Vote NO!

Dhimmis Once Again Show True Colors

Editor's Note: House Democrats can ethically include hundreds of millions in the stimulus for ACORN and the dissemination of condoms but can't find it acceptable to name a bridge or a public works facility after someone who died providing defense of liberty? What does that tell us about their feelings about liberty??

Democrats Kill Bill that Honored Troops
S.A. Miller,
The Washington Times

House Democrats blocked a measure that would have required new roads, bridges and schools funded by the $825 billion economic stimulus to be named after US armed forces members killed in action. Democrats on the House Rules Committee nixed the amendment Tuesday in a party-line 9-3 vote. The same vote also took down four other Republican amendments that would have funded job training for veterans, stopping all the measures from being considered Wednesday by the full House for inclusion in the stimulus.

"For whatever reason, it was not to their liking," said Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, Michigan Republican, sponsor of the amendment that would have honored fallen troops.
