Richmond Military Society 5K Run-Blogger Challenge

The Richmond Military Society's 5K run is 26 March.

They want to line the route with American flags in memory of all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the GWOT. You can help by purchasing a flag for six bucks at the link above.

Six Dollars, people. ($6.00) One decent meal at Macdonald's. You don't really need that double-meat double-cheese 50,000 calorie heart attack detonator, do you?

From a friend (and Gold Star Wife of a Sky Angel):
Flags will line the course of Richmond Military Society 5k for the American Widow Project. Each flag represents a soldier we have lost during the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.

The editorial staff here at United Conservatives will be stepping up and providing at least 10 in memory of the Sky Angels from the Second-503 173DABN.

I challenge the ODBA and the readers at BNN to match us.

Message for the ODBA

Brothers and Sisters, we are gathered here today to celebrate our love of musicahh.

No wait...thats not it. Where is that thing? I know its around here somewhere.

Oh, here it is. (I laid it down and covered it up with YankeeMom's Milblog Award. The thing is HUGE. I had to get a special permit just to haul it back to Richmond.)

(Clears throat)...
ATTENTION:
Tuesday, 13 April at 1200 I will be live-blogging from the Prince William County Complex for the National Museum of Americans in Wartime. I'm pretty sure ya'll know who they are, from my posts last year at the Open House.

There is big news coming about the museum. Its good stuff. NMAW asked me to do this and since I love heavy equipment with guns, it really was a no-brainer. Any members who aren't busy and can get away, come on out. Would love to see ya.

Had a great weekend hanging with the Big Dogs of milblogging and Troop Support. There are hours of video from the panels, and the panel with the former Marine Combat Photographer from WWII is awesome. He was on Tarawa and Iwo Jima.

There is good stuff coming this summer, friends. I feel great. Everyone was very glad to see me and I was delighted to be seen in the vertical position. (and I stayed vertical for most of the conference.) No really, I did. Seriously, ya'll, I was very well-behaved. Well, there was that one time, when......oops. TMI.

Heads Up For The ODBA & Partisan Virginia

Please put the evening of October 29th from 6 PM to 8 PM in Richmond on your calendar.
More details will be forthcoming, but this is the date and time for a planned event.

Important Notice To ODBA Members

I've gotten two emails, purportedly from I'm Not Emeril, containing an executable file.

We all know not to open unsolicited files, regardless of who sent them.

I know Alton is not sending this email, so someone on the left is trying to screw with some of the members of the ODBA.

To the asshat responsible for this, it's not going to work, you stupid dipstick. Now we're looking for you.

I hope you have a deep deep hole to hide in.

Thank you Lt. Gov. Bolling

Yesterday was the 2nd Annual Blogger's Day at the Capital. I wish to extend the thanks of the United Conservatives of Virginia for the invitation. Personally, the day was a revelation to me, having never attended government proceedings before. Lt. Governor Bolling's graciousness and genuine interest in his constituents, whether bloggers or not and from both sides of the "aisle" was evident. The day was thoroughly enjoyable.

Putting faces to the blogs that I read everyday was the best part of the day. Bloggers from Spank that Donkey, Vivian Paige, Virginia Virtuacon, Not Larry Sabato, Leslie Carbone, Bearing Drift, I'm Not Emeril, QandO, The Virginia Federalist, and Two Conservatives made this new blogger feel very welcome. If I left anyone out, I apologize. Its not my fault. I can't be wrong. I'm a blogger.

UPDATE: Apparently, I removed two blogs during my last edit. Oops. I still blame the booze, um, stress from blogging.......we'll just keep this our secret......

And so, thanks also to Spark It Up and Conservativa.

Oh, and I hope the WIMP is recovering from the Lt. Governor's gift.

Prayer Circle Needed for Kat!

As you go about your day, please keep ODBA member Kat of CatHouse Chat in your prayers. Her family has suffered a devastating loss. Losing family members is hard enough, but it is doubly hard that she has lost so many -- three cousins at one time-- in a traffic accident. Two of which were age 9 and 12.

Those who are frequent readers of her blog know that Kat is a Christian -- and unapologetic for it, in a world that is hostile to Christianity. I believe her faith is strong, and she will weather this storm for her family. I pray a prayer of intercession for her and her family. God's love and merciful care on all of you.

Psalm 71:20-21

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.

Kat, if you can read this, know that we here at UCV love you, and our hearts and prayers go out to you. If you need us at all, for anything let us know.

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Update***

Kender will be watching over Kat's blog till she returns. I will try and coordinate with her any way that we can show support are caring for Kat and her family during this time of need.

If you have a moment, stop by her blog and post a comment for her.

We Are The ODBA!

BadRose has an absolutely great post over at her site.
It should be made into posters and handouts and passed out along with the ODBA web sites at every available opportunity. CHECK IT OUT!

These are the real people behind ODBA, not the hit job defaming antics of a whashed up political hack from weeks ago.

Stop by her site and give her a HI-5!

UCV Joins ODBA

F22strike and I are proud to announce UCV's membership in the Old Dominion Blog Alliance. Thank you, ODBA, for including us in the lineup!

Alton has an announcement here and a history of the alliance here.

It is good to see new bloggin' friends SWACgirl, Elle, J. Maxwell and Ward on the list, too.
