Atheist Group Seeks to Block Star of David on Holocaust Memorial

Atheist Group Seeks to Block Star of David on Holocaust Memorial

There comes a time when people who are obviously idiots must be told to STFD and STFU. There can be no other course of action. Like a child who constantly whines and throws temper tantrums, they must be either ignored, or given a serious dose of reality.

This is one of those times. It is time for atheists to be taught that while we tolerate their disbelief, we will not be the victims of it and we will not be part of it. If you don't believe in God, that is your problem. But you will not impose that belief on those of us that do believe.

“Permitting one permanent sectarian and exclusionary religious symbol… would create the legal precedent, for instance, to place an equally large or larger permanent Latin cross on Capitol grounds,” wrote Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-presidents of the Madison, Wisconsin group. Gaylor is the daughter of Anne Nicol Gaylor, author of Abortion Is A Blessing. Barker said that the Holocaust memorial, as currently proposed, would amount to a “constitutionally problematic endorsement of religion.”

Its HISTORY you dippie bitch. They were persecuted BECAUSE they were Jewish.

Campaigns Spar Over Military Absentee Ballots | Military.com

Campaigns Spar Over Military Absentee Ballots | Military.com
Even as state election officials across the U.S. have noticed a rise in military voting, a disturbing trend has appeared. The rate active-duty military voters who reported not receiving a requested absentee ballot almost doubled from 16 percent in 2008 to 29 percent in 2010, according to a survey done by the Defense Department’s Federal Voter Assistance Program (FVAP).
“It is a very real challenge” to get ballots out to forward operating bases in Afghanistan and other duty stations worldwide, said Paddy McGuire, FVAP’s deputy director for Elections Assistance. Mail services must also return those ballots as servicemembers try to keep track of ever-changing voting deadlines and the blizzard of federal, state and local election laws.
The political parties have added to the confusion of who can vote and when. Both Republicans and Democrats have dispatched platoons of lawyers to challenge or defend local election laws as they jockey for advantage.

The parties have clashed recently over an Ohio law that allowed military absentee ballots to be accepted up to the day before the Nov. 6 general election day. The cutoff for civilian absentee ballots is Nov. 2.

The National Guard Association filed a motion backing Republicans seeking to keep the three-day window for the military although Joseph Goheen, an NGA spokesman, said the motion was filed reluctantly.

“Our intent was to ensure that our members had a voice in this,” Goheen said. “But it’s been twisted in every direction by those seeking to politicize this.”

He said he supported the solution of accepting all absentee ballots up to Nov. 5 as requested in the lawsuit filed jointly by the Obama campaign, the Democratic National Committee and Ohio Democratic Party in July.

“We have no problem with that. We’re really not taking sides in this,” said Goheen, who explained that NGA’s main concern is making voting as easy as possible for servicemembers overseas.
McGuire admits a “complexity problem” still exists for troops trying to navigate the absentee ballot process.

Better Nip This One In the Bud

Two senators eye gas tax hike to pay for highways and bridges
By Alexander Bolton - 11/08/10 06:31 PM ET

A bipartisan pair of senators has urged President Obama’s debt commission to consider raising the gas tax to pay for infrastructure projects.

Sens. Tom Carper (D-Del.) and George Voinovich (R-Ohio) have written to the chairmen of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform advocating for a 25-cent per gallon tax increase.

“We suggest that the commission include an increase in the federal tax on gasoline and diesel as part of your report to the president,” they wrote. “We suggest that the taxes be increased by one cent per month for 25 months — a total of 25 cents over a three-year period.”

Bipartisan or not, we don't need higher gasoline prices.

Whats Your Definition of Elitist?

John Boehner: the second of 12 kids from Ohio who is Barack Obama's elitist target

The White House is attempting to cling on to Democratic control of Washington by portraying an Ohio congressman who grew up in near poverty as an elitist country club Republican controlled by wealthy lobbyists.

President Barack Obama is doing his best to turn Representative John Boehner, the House minority leader, into Public Enemy Number One. If Republicans win back the House of Representatives in November, as polls indicate, he will replace Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.

In a recent speech, Mr Obama mentioned Mr Boehner by name nine times. A fundraising email sent out from BarackObama.com this week stated that corporate interests and lobbyists “have put all their chips on one man: Congressman John Boehner”.

If This Doesn't Get People Motivated...

We may as well pack it in and start singing Kumbiyah...they'll be coming for the Krispy Kremes, soon.

You can have my White Castle slider when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

White Castle Exec: Obamacare Provision Would Cut Our Income in Half

BY Jeffrey H. Anderson

Forget about open-heart surgery or cutting-edge cancer treatments. Under Obamacare, you might have a hard time finding a hamburger. A statement released by White Castle, the Ohio-based burger chain, highlights how damaging Obamacare would be to small businesses and to Americans' job prospects.

White Castle reports that a single provision of Obamacare would cut its net income in half -- and then some. Jamie Richardson, a White Castle executive, says, "We’ve been working on this internally from a number of different perspectives. One [provision] that has [us] the most concerned is the $3,000 penalty that kicks in when an employee’s portion of a premium exceeds 9.5% of Household Income."

Richardson elaborates, "In present form, this provision alone would lead to approximate increased costs equal to over 55% of what we earn annually in net income (based on [our] past 4-year average). Effectively cutting our net income in half would have [a] devastating impact on the business -- cutting future expansion and more job creation at least in half. Sadly, it makes it difficult to justify growing where jobs are needed most -- in lower income areas." And that's all from just a single provision in a 2,700-page act.

The Obama administration's economic policy seems to involve dividing businesses into two categories: too big to fail, and too little to matter.

No wonder Ohioans support repeal of Obamacare by 19 percentage points (57 to 38 percent).

Democrat Budget Failures

TOP 10 CONSEQUENCES OF DEMOCRATS’ BUDGET FAILURE

WHILE DEMOCRATS DITHER, REPUBLICANS PUSH COMMON-SENSE SOLUTIONS TO CUT SPENDING NOW, PUT PEOPLE BACK TO WORK

May 17, 2010 House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) Permalink

Washington Democrats remain divided and indifferent towards proposing a budget, missing a valuable opportunity to provide the fiscal discipline economists say is needed to create jobs and grow our economy. It also sends “the worst possible signal” to the American people and the international community that the federal government has no plan to address its fiscal crisis.

Democrats refuse to listen to the American people, who want us to work together to stop the out-of-control spending spree and focus on helping small businesses create jobs. A responsible budget would be a good place to start. Here’s a look at some of the consequences of Washington Democrats’ budget failure:

1. A missed opportunity to create jobs. For families and small businesses, Democrats’ budget failure means a missed opportunity to provide the fiscal discipline economists say is needed to create jobs and grow our economy.

2. Sends “the worst possible signal” that the federal government “has no plan” to address its fiscal crisis. With our national debt set to hit $13 trillion any day now, Democrats still have no credible plan to address our fiscal crisis. Bob Bixby, head of the non-partisan Concord Coalition, said recently: “Failure to adopt a budget resolution when fiscal resolution is needed most would send the worst possible signal. It would say to investors in Treasury securities, foreign and domestic, that the federal government is still in denial about its fiscal problems and has no plan to address the situation anytime soon.”

3. A historic failure of leadership. According to the non-partisan Congressional Research Service, the House has never failed to pass a budget resolution in the modern era. It was Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) who described passing the budget as “the most basic responsibility of governing,” and Budget Chairman John Spratt (D-SC) who said, “if you can’t budget, you can’t govern.”

4. Tax hikes on the middle class and small businesses? The Heritage Foundation has noted that “not passing a budget means not carving out budgetary priorities for any extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, even for low-income families. Thus, avoiding steep tax increases during this recession will be more legislatively difficult.”

5. Punts to President Obama’s deficit commission, which most Americans view as “a cover for Congress to raise taxes.” One of Republicans’ first objections to the President’s proposed deficit commission was that it would enable Democrats to punt on fiscal responsibility, and with their failure to propose a budget, that is exactly what is happening. Most Americans, however, view the deficit commission “as cover for Congress to raise taxes.” Indeed, the commission’s recommendations may well lead to the United States adopting a European-style value added tax (VAT).

6. Washington Democrats are looking out for themselves, not the American people. Leader Hoyer has “candidly acknowledged that politics is a factor” in Democrats’ failure to propose a budget. After all, a budget blueprint would only give the American people a fuller picture of how much damage Washington Democrats’ spending spree has done to our balance sheet. One Capitol Hill newspaper has noted that Democrats “simply don’t have any good excuses not to do a budget beyond cowardice.” Families and small businesses trying to make ends meet each month don’t have the same luxury.

7. Ignores mounting evidence that America’s debt is on track to reach Greece-like levels. A new IMF report shows that our national debt is on track to exceed the size of our entire economy: “The IMF predicts that the U.S. would need to reduce its structural deficit by the equivalent of 12% of GDP… Greece, in the midst of a financial crisis, needs to reduce its structural deficit by just 9% of GDP, according to the IMF's analysis.” Greece’s debt is projected to reach 125 percent of GDP this year, the highest in the European Union.

8. Increases strain on national security resources. Gen. James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, emphasized the links between economic uncertainty and national security in a speech last week: “There is no precedent for sustaining the deficits that we are in right now and are projected in our future. And the ability to recover from them has no real precedent. We’ve got a significant problem in front of us and waging a war in that construct is something that we’re going to have to understand and think our way through.”

9. Paves the way for even more spending during the annual appropriations process. The Heritage Foundation has noted that not passing a budget “prevents Congress from capping discretionary spending for fiscal year (FY) 2011. The House and Senate may ‘deem’ spending targets for their appropriations committees, but the respective spending targets may not even match each other (which would create large problems when the spending bills reach the conference committee).”

10. Demonstrates the need for Republicans’ better solutions to cut spending now and make Washington do more with less. As the American people continue to ask 'where are the jobs?,’ what will it take for Democrats to work with Republicans on common-sense solutions that will actually help get people back to work and put our fiscal house in order?

Will the Executive Order Restrict Abortion?

Would the executive order concerning abortion change the health care overhaul?

On Sunday, a bloc of House Democrats announced they would support the health care bill as long as President Obama signed an executive order to clarify that no taxpayer dollars could be spent on abortion because of it. The executive order essentially reiterates the long-standing restrictions on taxpayer funding of abortions except for cases of rape, incest or endangerment of the woman’s life. The bill already included similar restrictions, but Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) and others were concerned that funding for community health centers and other programs could still end up paying for abortion services since it was not explicitly addressed in the bill.

The executive order was designed to reassure those lawmakers. However, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) noted that a future president could still overturn the executive order, and some House Democrats want to end the existing restrictions.

Marine Aquitted in DC Gun Possession Case

WaPo Story
Note:Registration required to access story via link.

After being deadlocked twice, a D.C. Superior Court jury yesterday acquitted a Marine amputee on felony charges of gun possession stemming from an arrest while he was on the way to Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
In the 2006 incident, Cpl. Melroy H. Cort, 24, and his wife, Samantha, were en route from their home in Columbus, Ohio, to Walter Reed. Cort's legs had been amputated above the knees when he was wounded by a makeshift bomb in Ramadi during his third tour of duty in Iraq.
The couple's car got a flat tire, forcing them to pull over at a car repair shop in the 5000 block of Georgia Avenue NW. While there, Cort said, he reached into the glove compartment, removed a 9mm pistol and put it in his jacket pocket.
A witness who noticed Cort handling the gun called police, who arrested and handcuffed Cort while he was sitting in his wheelchair. He was charged with three counts of carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of ammunition. He spent the night in the D.C. jail before returning to Walter Reed.
He was assigned a public defender, who encouraged him to plead guilty. But Cort refused, because a felony on his record could cost him his military benefits. So he decided to represent himself.
"I had to fight for myself," he said yesterday. "I wasn't going to plead guilty and lose everything."
During his trial, which began Friday before Judge Lynn Leibovitz, the two arresting officers testified that Cort had thrown up his hands and told them he had a gun in his pocket when they approached him.
Taking the stand in his defense, Cort tried to tell his personal story: How he enlisted in the Marines in 2004 after graduating from Ohio's Wright State University with a business degree. How he went to Iraq in 2004 and 2005, when he was was critically injured. How he was fitted with prosthetic legs and honorably discharged in 2007.
But Leibovitz ordered him to discuss only the case at hand.
Cort, who said he had a permit to carry the gun in Ohio, said he had it with him because he had moved out of his house in anticipation of an extended stay at Walter Reed.
He said his commanding officer had advised him to take the gun to the armory on Walter Reed's base as soon as he arrived.
Cort said 12 rounds of ammunition were in his car trunk, but police said the ammunition was in the gun's clip.
Although acquitting him of the gun charges, the jury found Cort guilty of possessing ammunition, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to time already spent in the D.C. jail.
Cort, his wife and their 3-month-old daughter, Charlott, now plan to drive home to Columbus, where Samantha Cort is in real estate. Cort said he plans to appeal the verdict and tend to his family.
"I just plan to take care of my daughter," Cort said.
