Governor Timmeh is a credit to Virginia....

Governor Timmeh is the DNC Chairman. HIS employees determined that the above piece was worthy of being a "finalist" in their contest.

HE is one of the judges. Will he make a comment about the flag desecration?

From Politico:
According to the Organizing for American Web site, the 20 finalists in the “Health Reform Video Challenge” were chosen by a panel of “qualified” Democratic National Committee “employee judges.”

According to the OFA Web site, the 20 finalists will be judged by the public and a panel of experts that includes DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, Obama campaign chief David Plouffe, Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Pa.), singer will.i.am and Hollywood stars Rosario Dawson and Dule Hill.

Obama hands out the rewards for a job well done.

Change we can believe in.

President-elect Obama has chosen anti choice, pro abstinence education, anti embryonic stem cell research, anti labor, anti union, anti same-sex marriage and anti civil union politican to be the DNC Chair.

Guess who?

At least Governor Timmy won't be around to screw up Virginia. Oh, wait....darn. He's going to try and multi-task. Again.

We all saw how well that worked when Gov. Timmy was running around trying to get chosen as Vice President......

Why State Attorneys can drink and carry concealed

Apparently Governor Kaine, either can't read what he's signing, is willing to ignore parts of laws that he signs, has an incompetent law office that gives him bad advice, or he's lying to gun owners.

At a recent town meeting in Norfolk, VCDL member and blogger Curtis Stone, confronted the Governor about his inconsistencies in enforcing the laws of the land. His reply:

I explain it by saying you got the bills wrong. Your first statement of my veto was 100% accurate. Virginia does not allow concealed weapons to be carried into restaurants except by sworn law enforcement officers...

Commonwealth Attorneys are not sworn law enforcement...

Well, you know, I have a lot of lawyers and we spent a lot of time on this...

While Commonwealth Attorneys can carry concealed weapons because of the bill I signed, they can't take them into restaurants that serve alcohol.

Here is part of an email from the VCDL explaining the facts of life:

Here is the analysis:

18.2-308 is Virginia's concealed weapons code section

18.2-308 A lists all the weapons that are considered concealed if
carried "hidden from common" (this includes firearms, nun chucks,
daggers, etc.) and makes such carriage illegal.

18.2-308 B lists all the people who are TOTALLY EXEMPT from the
concealed weapons law, on-duty or off-duty, except from part J1
(below). Police are in this section and, now thanks to the Governor,
so are Commonwealth Attorneys

18.2-308 C lists all the people who are TOTALLY EXEMPT from the
concealed weapons law ONLY WHILE ON DUTY. This includes mail
carriers, the, er, Harbormaster of Hopewell (?!), and correctional
officers.

18.2-308 D creates a concealed handgun permit, which allows citizens
to carry a concealed handgun and not be charged with doing so.
However, the permit holder is not exempt from any of the other
provisions in the concealed weapons law, unlike the people in 18.2-308
B and C (above)

18.2-308 J1 says a person can't be drunk while carrying a concealed
handgun. This only applies to those listed in 18.2-308 B and 18.2-308
D. Interesting to note that 18.2-308 C is not covered. Thus, the
Harbormaster of Hopewell can actually be drunk and carry a concealed
handgun as long as he is on duty (or going to or from such duty)!

18.2-308 J3 says a person can't carry a concealed handgun into a
restaurant or club that serves alcoholic beverages. It does say that
a sworn law enforcement officer can do so, but that is actually
irrelevant since everyone listed in 18.2-308 B and C are exempt from
the concealed weapons law, including J3! (For legal clarity it is
common practice to state that such restrictions do not apply to sworn
police officers, even when such restrictions clearly don't apply
anyway.)

Governor Kaine is a hypocritical, lying, stupid, double-dealing politician. But I expected this from him. Typical.

There are two classes of citizenry in the Commonwealth -those that are government lawyers - and the rest of us.

An email from our government watchdogs, the Virginia Citizens Defense League, announced that Governor Kaine has decided that being a government lawyer is enough of a qualification to carry concealed while having that cold one after a hard day's work as a Commonwealth Attorney.

Governor Kaine has hypocritically signed into law, SB 776, Delegate Hurt's bill, a bill that permits Commonwealth Attorneys and their deputies, with NO requirement for any firearms training, to carry a concealed handgun into a restaurant that serves alcohol AND DRINK while they're at it.

Alcohol and guns DO mix if you work for him.

Apparently a double standard exists. Private citizens, having gone through all the steps of acquiring a concealed carry permit, one that entails proof of training, and in depth background checks, are not capable of obeying the law of not using alcohol while carrying concealed.

Law school and subsequent government employment magically enables the Commonwealth attorneys and their deputies,( whoever they may be) not only to automatically know how to use a firearm safely, know the laws that apply to concealed carry, but also get a free pass, because THEY can do it under the influence of alcohol......

Following his previous logic, when vetoing SB476, Governor Kaine has just endangered the citizenry of the Commonwealth.

Imagine that this is you......

Governor Kaine's veto of concealed carry in a restaurant makes this story more immediate. Since many citizens are hesitant about about open carry, said citizen would probably lock his weapon in his car.

Instead of Wal-Mart's parking lot, this could happen on the way back to your car after a nice meal in the Fan or West End.....

I glanced back and saw that the two young men had spread apart, one on either side of us and to the rear. That is when I felt it. They had matched my stride and were circling me. Like an antelope, I knew I was being stalked by jackals, only I did not know why. Time was accelerating at head pounding speed, and Little Darling, blissfully unaware, was along for the ride.

I saw our vehicle and began to approach it, but I wanted to be certain. I walked past, and cut between two unoccupied SUVs, grabbing a shopping cart to block the path from my front. The man on my right turned towards me and cursed as he saw his path was blocked by the cart jammed between the two vehicles sideways. I spun and drew my pistol from it's holster, keeping it at low ready, facing off the other young man who was quickly approaching me from behind. My thumb had already snicked off the safety and Little Darling, confused, peered from behind me.

It seemed an eternity looking into the menacing, sneering face of the hoodlum who had began his approach from my rear. He sized up the man with the gun, a little girl behind him. I heard nothing to my rear.

This event did end safely. The police were called and a report taken. He asked if I was still armed, and I said yes. "Good," he replied.

We never know when or why an attack might commence. We do not know what lengths others might take to obtain that which they deem valuable. It is impossible to predict any and all contingencies. Because of the differences between people, and the dangers that result from those differences, we can only be prepared to protect ourselves and our children, at any time, by any means necessary.

ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Contact Governor Kaine and express your opinion about how his veto affects your safety.
