Bozell Column: Let's Kill Cain's Campaign | NewsBusters.org

Bozell Column: Let's Kill Cain's Campaign NewsBusters.org

I'm still not ready to believe a word of the accuser's story,
and Mr Cain needs to account for every minute this woman claims he spent with her.

As Paul R Hollrah said in the comments section:

Paul R. Hollrah // Nov 30, 2011 at 7:33 pm

Nor is his name Herman Clinton.

I suppose it is Neal Boortz’s, Sean Hannity’s, and Rush Limbaugh’s newness to the conservative cause that makes them ignorant of the full significance of the effort to destroy Herman Cain. They seem not to understand that the one thing liberals and Democrats cannot have is for young blacks to see what can happen to a black child who goes to school, studies, and works hard.

If they did, and if blacks then voted for Republicans and Democrats in roughly the same percentages as the rest of the population, the balance of power in the US Senate today would be 59 Republicans, 39 Democrats, and 2 Independents. I have studied every Senate race in the 2006, 2008, and 2010 Senate campaigns and that’s what the study shows.

Given what is at stake, the stories about Herman cannot be believed unless there is positive proof. Democrats will do literally anything… including murder… to see to it that he does not succeed.

"You Lie" Is Worse Than "You're Dead"

Bozell: Who Is James Eric Fuller?

OK, so conservatives have to be accused of fostering hatred with our alleged vitriol, the kind of vitriol that fuels the flames of violence, like we witnessed in Tucson except — well, except there wasn’t and isn’t a shred of evidence that the killer was influenced by any conservatives since a) he didn’t listen to or watch conservative programming and b) isn’t a conservative.

There is the hypothetical question: What if the perpetrator of violence were liberal? How would the media react then? How many would put Chris Matthews, Paul Krugman, Keith Olbermann and Co. on trial for creating the “atmosphere” of “hatred” so often ascribed to conservatives only?

In fact, it happened. One of Jared Loughner’s shooting victims was a local leftist activist, James Eric Fuller, who last week was invited to ABC’s taping of “An American Conversation.” There, in front of all the cameras, he interrupted a local tea party activist by uttering what should be considered in this atmosphere to be a blood-curdling threat: “You’re dead!” Police considered these words serious enough to have him removed and involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

The very same media outlets that had spent seven days pounding conservatives with no evidence didn’t find this threat worth more than a perfunctory mention, an asterisk. The same people who turned the words “You lie!” from Rep. Joe Wilson to Obama into a week-long scandal for conservatives now heard a man proclaim “You’re dead!” to a tea party activist at a national news taping — and they yawned.

Which is not to say that the press wasn’t interested in the pronouncements of this man. In fact, Fuller had been featured in an interview on the radical-left Pacifica Radio network the day before, and they dutifully broadcast his either dishonest or insane rant: “It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target. Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled — senseless hatred leading to murder, lunatic fringe anarchism, subscribed to by John Boehner, mainstream rebels with vengeance for all, even 9-year-old girls.”

So let’s look at the coverage. The first responsibility to report this was ABC’s, since they invited this crank to their special episode of “This Week” with Christiane Amanpour. ABC did a big story previewing their “healing” event on “World News Saturday.” At first, they pretended that no one made a death threat, and no one was dragged away by police. Anchor David Muir, who co-hosted the town hall meeting, declared, “Wasn’t it something to see this community together? … They want consensus.” Amanpour agreed: “Today we saw them wanting to carry on an honest dialogue … but a reasonable and rational one.”

Conservatism As A Crime?

Watchdog: Left Exploiting Arizona Rampage to ‘Criminalize’ Conservatives
Monday, 10 Jan 2011 07:54 PM
By David A. Patten and Kathleen Walter

The left’s systematic ridicule of Sarah Palin and other conservatives following the Arizona shooting rampage reflects a deliberate campaign to “ultimately criminalize” conservative thought in America, according to media watchdog L. Brent Bozell.

Bozell’s comments in an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview came as 22-year-old Jared Loughner appeared in federal court in Phoenix on Monday on charges of trying to assassinate U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz. The shooting spree Saturday at a Safeway supermarket north of Tucson left six dead and 13 wounded. The judge ordered that Loughner be held without bail.

Bozell, founder and president of the conservative watchdog group Media Research Center, isn’t alone in his concern about the media coverage of the rampage.

Such efforts to blame the Tucson massacre on conservatives reflect a broader agenda, Bozell said.

“This is a part of a campaign to delegitimize, and ultimately criminalize, conservative thought in this country,” Bozell said. “Note how quickly The New York Times came out with an editorial calling for the Fairness Doctrine as a result of this.

“I mean, anything to pin to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin or the tea party . . . anybody on the conservative side, to delegitimize them, that’s what they’re going to do. That’s the tactics of the far left.”

Palin’s antagonists are focusing on a Facebook post nine months ago that listed a number of Democrats the GOP hoped to defeat following the vote on healthcare reform. It used what some say appeared to be a cross hairs symbol to designate vulnerable districts, including Giffords.' Giffords later cautioned in a cable TV appearance that heated political rhetoric such as that could have serious consequences.

But evidence emerged Monday that Loughner’s fixation on Giffords may have predated both the rise of the tea parties and Palin’s emergence on the national political scene in 2008 as Sen. John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate.

The Double-Standard of Media Perception

Tainting the Tea Party
By Brent Bozell

During the Bush years, the news media were the promoters of protest, the champions of dissent. Denouncing the president as a brain-damaged warmonger was the most patriotic thing you could do (just ask the Dixie Chicks), and it was guaranteed to please the press.

On MSNBC before the Iraq War in 2003, David Shuster elevated the "anti-war" movement as the equivalent of the United States military, only with a higher morality: "The size of the demonstrators, at least here, at least in Europe, seems to underscore that there are now perhaps two world superpowers," he told Chris Matthews. "There's the United States, and then there are those millions of people who took to the streets opposing U.S. policy."

My, how times -- and standards -- change. On the weekend of the vote for a massive government intervention in the health-insurance market, these same reporters had a different take. The Tea Party protesters were not going to be hailed for their courageous and patriotic use of their free time. They were going to be smeared for daring to be.
/snip
Shuster asked black conservative Robert Traynham to blame the conservative media for these overheard outbursts (not that any network had them on tape): "Do any conservative media outlets, Robert, bear any responsibility for that? Because when people hear over and over that this is Nazism on the march, or fascism, or that Armageddon is coming, of course some people are going to flip out."

The whole smear turned ridiculous when conservative radio host Mark Simone told Shuster that every protest has some overenthusiastic people yelling stupid things. Shuster insisted the left had never behaved in that fashion in the Bush years: "Nobody spit on a lawmaker. Nobody used a N-word. Nobody used an F-word."

Shuster wasn't with me on numerous occasions when the anti-military leftist wacko nutroot asshats were spitting on soldiers and calling them baby-killers, marching with signs showing President Bush being beheaded, showing up in committee hearings with bloody hands to accost the Secretary of State, or being generally obnoxious, dis-tasteful and disrespectful to anyone who disagreed with them.

Nope, no double-standard here.

When News Becomes Propaganda

From Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center:

President Obama is trying to put our nation on the fast track to socialized health care, and on June 24, the ABC network will help him sell this bill of goods to the American people. Tomorrow night, ABC News will transform the White House into their newsroom for what has been described as an unabashed infomercial promoting the Democrat agenda; more specifically, government-run health care.

ABC News Emphatically Rejects Opposing Views

ABC News has abandoned all pretense of journalistic integrity in its bid to be the administration's official salesman for ObamaCare. ABC flatly rejected Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay's request to add opposition views to ensure all sides of the health care debate were represented in the "town hall" forum.

Not only that, ABC News Vice President Kerry Smith responded by saying, "ABC News alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the President."

As if that wasn't enough, ABC then rejected an ad from a conservative group trying to counter the liberal health care agenda. They clearly are not interested in a balanced presentation on this subject.Void of opposing views, this "news special" becomes nothing more than an extended infomercial designed to scare and manipulate the American people into supporting a trillion-dollar government takeover of the highest quality health care system in the world!

Hold ABC News Accountable
Health care is an issue of life and death. If you don't want politicians and faceless bureaucrats making your personal health care decisions, which medical procedures you need, which treatments are affordable, which medications you can have; then stand with us and demand the media present a balanced view on how to reform health care. That's why we are asking MRC Action team members to do two things TODAY. First, take a moment right now to call ABC News executives and demand balance in the health care debate. Ask them why they won't allow the conservative point of view on this show. Second, click here to submit questions to be asked at this "town hall" on Wednesday “questions the liberal media aren't asking. Questions like:
1· How much will your plan cost?
2· How will it be paid for?
3· Can you name one example of the government taking over an industry and the costs falling as a result?
