Patricia Phillips To Run For State Senate In The 33rd

What an inspiration it is to see a remarkable woman like Patricia Phillips enter the political arena as a candidate for the Republican nomination for the 33rd District State Senate seat. This is a lady of keen intellect, grounded in common sense and fueled by ideas for the 33rd District and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

She knows her way around the General Assembly having worked hard over the years on a host of legislative issues.

Patricia Phillips has been involved in political and community affairs throughout her life. Prior to her announcement, she was the Precinct Operations Chairman for the Loudoun County Republican Committee, and State Director for the Concerned Women for America of Virginia. She was recently active in the effort to pass the Virginia Marriage Amendment to the state Constitution.
Bit of background on the race in the 33rd from the website:
In January 2006, there was a Special Election to replace Bill Mims in the state senate. The Republican candidate in the 33rd Senate District was Mick Staton who received approximately 38% of the vote. The Democrat candidate was Mark Herring who won the election with approximately 62% of the vote. Turnout was only approximately 14% of the registered voters. Herring was elected by 8% of the voters.
