The Real Meaning of Torture

Drudge just posted a link to “The Smoking Gun” who have excerpts from an al-Qaida torture manual captured “in a recent raid on an al-Qaeda safe house in Iraq.” The documents and images were made available by the Department of Defense as it declassified items for public viewing. Says TSG:

“The images… also include a ramshackle Bagdad safe house described as an ‘al-Qaeda torture chamber.’ It was there, during an April 24 raid, that soldiers found a man suspended from the ceiling by a chain. According to the military, he had been abducted from his job and was being beaten daily by his captors. In a raid earlier this week, Coalition Forces freed five Iraqis who were found in a padlocked room in Karmah. The group, which included a boy, were reportedly beaten with chains, cables, and hoses. Photos showing injuries sustained by those captives can be found here.”

I did not include the links to TSG’s photos of the torture methods. You SHOULD go look for yourself, though. You need to see 1.) what torture by the “freedom fighters” in Iraq looks like, to 2.) confirm in your mind that they ARE torturing people there in Iraq (military and civilian.) and 3.) give yourself something to compare what we in this country call “torture” with people who truly practice torture methods. These are not harmless sheepherders who were forced into war by an imperialistic America. These are cold hard murderers who study and physically train to kill, in order to serve their version of a religion that glorifies death, and permits true torture of those it deems as its enemies – the West, Israel, and anything NOT Islamic.
