Earth Day - I sacrificed

For Earth Day, I sacrificed. I sacrificed valuable and worthy materials.

To combat global climate change, I sacrificed 6 gallons of precious, precious gasoline, letting the smoke drift up, taking my prayers to stop global cooling....

To celebrate life on our mother Gaia, I sacrificed an animal on an alter of flame....well....part of an animal.......ribs mostly.......

To celebrate the joy of Mother Gaia's bountiful crops, I imbibed cold, wonderful beer....sacrificing my sobriety.

Tonight, I am sacrificing the wealth of Mother Gaia's bones, coal, to power this computer, in order to spread the word.....

Happy Earth Day! Lenin's Birthday! He was SUCH a leader of conservation! He was the first,...no,... He,uh, no,... Oh! He instituted centralized, tyrannical government that, by force of law, took away property rights and restricted freedom, ie, communism, under which, said government absolutely raped the environment of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. So, he has that going for him....

Earth Firster's and their ilk promote centralized, tyrannical government, that by force of law, takes away property rights and restricts freedom. They have been implicated in eco-terrorism and property violence. The early "ecology" movement grew out of the communist movement of the 70's, advocating the same principles, in order to "save the earth" versus the just the workers, thereby missing the irony of promoting some of the worst offenders against the earth.
Lenin once said that, "It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed." Environmentalists second this wholeheartedly when they restrict the ownership and control of private property through the guise of saving the environment.

Lenin's political philosophy knew nothing of morality, he once said that, "There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel." Some environmentalists take this to heart as well, placing metal spikes in trees so that when these trees get to lumber mills the spike will ruin the saws and have in some cases injured or even killed mill workers.

Noted environmental genius, former Vice-President Al Gore, said in his book Earth in the Balance, "Adopting a central organizing principle means embarking on an all-out effort to use every policy and program, every law and institution, every treaty and alliance, every tactic and strategy, every plan and course of action to use, in short, every means to halt the destruction of the environment."
Of the 365 days in the year, perhaps THIS one would have been a better choice for Earth Day. Yesterday would have been a much better day. The struggle between the ideas of "conservation" and "preservation" strike a balance between the needs of humanity both physically and spiritually. John Muir was a true champion of preservation. Gifford Pinchot developed the idea of "sustainable resource developement."

As a conservative, I am all for conservation. We conservatives live in this environment, too. Contrary to liberal propaganda, conservatives love themselves some clean air and water. However, conservation of our environment and resources has devolved into a religion. Feelings and emotions have been substituted for science and actual conservation. With the addition of politics into the witch's brew of the modern "ecology" movement, greed for power and money has trumped any possible benefits of conservation. While the arguments for and about "global warming" and its myriad possible causes, can be found throughout the internet, it is indisputable that the "cause" of global warming promotes the growth of governmental power and the abolition of many freedoms. Because governmental power now decides which industry succeeds or fails, big business has jumped on the bandwagon of an ecology movement backed by force of law. Many "green" industries cannot succeed without government intervention. Free money, anyone?

The removal and prevention of pollution, the stewardship of the environment based on science an common sense, the husbandry of resources, etc., are all proper conservative ideas. Proof that free market ideas, freedom, and property rights trump socialist ideas in promoting a healthy environment are the examples of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Western Europe, as opposed to.....well, the rest of the world.

However, in honor of Lenin's Birthday Earth Day, I present the following:

In honor of Earth First:

A tree responds to the love.....

And because I believe in the free market, and believe that America's use of renewable resources, under sustainable practices, provides for a better society, life, and environment, for all Americans:

The Lumberjack - music by Jackyl. (Yes, that is a chainsaw solo at the end....)

Oh, and make sure you hit Wal-Mart today. Buy some incandescent light bulbs. Stock up. The environmentalists have gotten them banned by 2012.
The phase-out of incandescent light is to begin with the 100-watt bulb in 2012 and end in 2014 with the 40-watt.
So now we get to import mercury filled Chinese light bulbs, built in EPA exempt, slave labor factories, powered by dirty coal, in the the great environmental paradise of Communist China and transported to the USA using huge ships powered by oil. So, we have that going for us......
