Blogging the GRYR Meeting

Jimmie Massie, John O'Bannon, Bill Janis
Good turnout in spite of the rain.

Bill is up first. (I gave him a challenge coin).
Its hard to be a Republican nowadays.

Primary focus of GA this year was to balance the budget/ cut 4 million.
Set priorities
Capped the amount of bills submitted to 1500.
Bill to exempt veterans with 100% disability from real property tax.

John O'Bannon noted the reason GA meets in January. (Agrarian society..true citizen legislature)

House worked out balanced budget; Senate had to re-work numbers to make their budget balance, because the Senate thought the tobacco tax was going to pass and built thier version of the budget around it.

Billion dollar rainy day fund. Constitutional amendment to increase the size of the rainy day fund. One more cycle and then it goes on the ballot.

Jimmie Massie...freedom is not free..get involved...if you don't like the current political make-up in Washington, you really won't like VA democrat controlled.

Balanced the budget without raising taxes. Housing is Ground Zero. No agreement on bill to help with housing.
Two year Corporate Income Tax study to determine best way to assist in making VA more hospitable to corporations.

Next up..."in this corner weighing in at 140 pounds, he's lean he's mean, he's Fighting Joe Morrissey"..no not Joe...Joe's challenger Mike Gage..we have a challenger for the Pounder this year. So far I like what I hear from this young man.

We need to work to keep Virginia a right to work state. If we allow the Chicago dhimmis to take over, you can kiss right to work good-bye.
