It's Really Hard To Get Behind These Guys

Pay Day Loan operators must have some hefty bucks invested in lobbying for their industry judging by the ads they ran during the last General Assembly session in Virginia. Now they want registered voters to back them up. It's strictly bi-partisan of course.
Advance America Hosts Virginia Voter Registration Drive

Stores to offer voter registration material from August 20 to September 29

SPARTANBURG, S.C., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advance America announced today the beginning of its Register in Advance campaign in Virginia. Register in Advance is a national non-partisan effort to register new voters. From August 20 to September 29, all Advance America stores in Virginia will provide official voter registration forms and instructional materials to interested residents of the Commonwealth.

As it has done in the past, Advance America is offering its Register in
Advance initiative because it values civic engagement, and seeks to promote participation in the democratic process. "Our company encourages our employees, customers, families and friends to exercise their fundamental rights of freedom by voting, and thus taking the first step to impacting positive developments in their communities," said Ken Compton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Advance America.

Tuesday, October 9 is the last day to register to vote in this year's general election; Election Day is November 6. To be eligible to vote, you must be a Virginia resident and a U.S. citizen. For more information about voter eligibility, consult the State Board of Elections, http://www.sbe.state.va.us.

Virginia is one of a handful of states that holds elections for state and local offices in years not aligned with federal elections. In most localities, voters will have the opportunity to select candidates for the House of Delegates, State Senate, Clerk of Court, Sheriff, Commonwealth's Attorney, Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, School Board, Board of Supervisors and Soil and Water Conservation.
