Allen-Durbin Amendment Passes Senate: $19 Million for Brain Injured Warriors!

While doing the right thing for our injured Warriors has been slimed and twisted by the Jim Webb campaign and aided by our local media intent on flaming a silly non-issue, Senator Allen continues to show he "gets it" when it comes to supporting our Military.

Thank you Senator George Allen and all the Senators who voted for passage of this amendment. What Allen did was change the word MAY to SHALL in Durbin's amendment to guarantee that the $19 million will in fact be allocated for the care and treatment of our heroic Troops suffering from brain trauma.

Jim Webb, through his staff, can mock that effort all he wants but it is certainly petty and cynical of him to do so. It could easily be my own son laying in a VA hospital bed somewhere and, frankly, I wouldn't give a rat's behind who appropriated the money to help him as long as it was done.

And in case anyone needs a reminder about who the enemy is, please read the last paragraph quoted below .

From today's presser 09/07/06:
Senator Allen has long advocated more advanced medical treatment and rehabilitation for American soldiers injured in the global war on terror.

In recent visits to Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Medical Center in Richmond, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and meeting with soldiers and their families throughout Virginia, Senator Allen has talked about the prevalence of head injuries suffered by soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

........

“Because of the vile tactics of the insurgents and terrorists using roadside bombs, car bombs and IEDs, too many of our brave soldiers are suffering devastating trauma to the head and I’m pleased that we put aside partisan politics for the health and well-being of our American heroes,” said Senator Allen in response to the passage of his amendment.
