Delmarva Shows Westboro Baptist the Door

The community of Seaford, Delaware on the Delmarva Peninsula lost two young Marines this month. Cpl. Cory Palmer's last rites were held Sunday, May 21. LCpl Richard James' funeral was Wednesday, May 24.

Protesters from Fred Phelp's cult of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas showed up in Seaford on Sunday, the day of Cpl. Palmer's funeral with obscene signs intending, no doubt, to incite a riot. As far as I can determine, none of the Westboro cretins were charged with that offense although a riot did result from their actions.
Despite the violence, police department spokesman Capt. Gary Flood said he believed area residents showed "good restraint.
(I like this guy!)

The Westboro pervs have video of their rapid departure from Seaford. Fortunately, they had enough sense to stay away Wednesday during the funeral for LCpl. James.

The Virginia General Assembly passed Delegate Bill Carrico's HB372. Hopefully, it will be an effective tool in preventing these kind of incidents, not only at military but all funerals.
