4th District Convention & Other Reports Around the State
Yesterday, May 13th 2006, I attended my first Republican convention of any kind: the 4th District Convention and Training Session. I enjoyed every minute of it. Being on the shy side (in realtime anyway) it was a pleasure to be welcomed so warmly by the ladies of the Suffolk Republican Women's group. They made me feel right at home along with the rest of the Powhatan delegation. Chairman Wayne Ozmore did a great job organizing the event and keeping things running smoothly.
J. R. from Bearing Drift has a great rundown of the event, especially Congressman Randy Forbe's remarks.
The afternoon workshops were excellent (I wish we had had a couple more hours).
Albermarle GOP Chairman Dr. Keith Drake gave an in depth presentation on How to Build/Increase Membership of Local Committees, J. R. of Bearing Drift on How to BLOG on Virginia Politics, Israel O'Quinn on Voter Vault Training and Mike Wade on the Virginia Marriage Amendment.
My one surprise of the day (other than Wayne Ozmore being so young and not wearing plaid pants & wingtips) was the fact that quite a few of the delegates and guests were not familiar with blogging. J. R.'s presentation was timely and well received judging by the many questions he got.
I had a few myself but we ran out of time. It was a good day to be a Republican.
